Name calling and coloring all men in the same color will not solve anything but make things more complicated. We must remember that the daughters who are raped are some father's daughter and some man's love. Repeatedly we have seen helpless fathers and beaten up men. Father's running on the streets to the Police or the Hospital, helpless. The male lover or friend, blood soaked and beaten, in critical condition on a hospital bed.

While I agree that mother's must teach their son's and become more strict, enforce limitations on TV and not compromise on the basis of false sexist beliefs; it is also important to educate girls on moderation in their attitude, lifestyle and dress manners.

It cannot only be the responsibility of the family, but also the media and the community as a whole.

Why is it so funny that this decay of our society might be a foreign conspiracy?

Iliterate humans only not involve in this ilegal kind of gesture...but even the EDUCATED humans also involve there hand of support..

I think its a very important issue and I think that some of these criminals are a friend or a family members of some politicians. However many others are usually a result of bad parenting, bad schools and bad colleges, where the culture is already rotten. These guys treat women as objects, but contrastingly their sisters and mothers are their honour.

Talking about parenting, some of their parents even encourage them to steal small things like fruits etc. Parenting for these moms and dads is just about earning money, feeding them, beating them or leaving them out to play or out to school. Forget about sitting with the kids, having dinner conversations or solving their issues in a right way.

These kids will start to go to rotten schools and will meet bigger criminals. First, they will start eve-teasing that may be inspired by some bollywood heroes. Gradually they grow up to become sexually starved guys. Most of them will lack in good personality. Forget about getting a gf, most of them cant even hold a conversation, as all their knowledge is limited to girls, sex and perveted jokes.

Sometimes one of them will get a gf and invite her to some isolated house. It will be a hell for the girl as his friends will outnumber the girl and take their turns! After that once a criminal, always a criminal will mostly hold. They will remain undeterred crime after crime. The girls who are aged 14-15 never speak up, being young and subservient used to being dominated at their homes. Also how will they answer why did they go there?Other bigger criminals are already murderers or robbers who frequent some isolated places like those under construction. From time to time a couple will come their looking for privacy. These guys will beat up the guy and molest the girl.

Thus, if we look at these things, then good moral education, good parenting and good upbringing is missing here. Also, may be if whole society learns to respect women then may be they will too. Our cultural fabric is also over stressed. On one hand sex is a taboo, many people want to be a part of our old culture that was also about renoucing material things, but on other hand sex is just in our face with item songs, pretentious richer people, and what not. Talking about sex education, it just makes the matters worse by making sexually starved people more desperate. Talking about movies, some of them even have heroes doing eve-teasing!

Although its a diff topic, with some good points in favour some not, but for the moment our India does not have any sexual freedom. Couples still have to look for that isolated place! As for girls, they should just be prudent while it is dangerous out there. Most girls cant single handedly take on 3-4 guys so should stay out of isolated places. They should not tolerate eve teasing etc and should raise the issue immediately.

We need good policing too. Police usually catches some genuine couples rather than some criminals who have connections with politicians.

Agree with most of your points. However, a large number of individuals in many countries grow up parentless. So good parenting is not so much applicable to these people. Some individuals don't receive any education good or bad. Given the scale of country its nearly impossible for any government to educate entire population anytime soon even if they want to. Largely I don't think there is anything hugely wrong with our society except some sections. But then rapes and other crimes happen all over the world. Guess no country has yet discovered how to not create criminals except draconian lawmakers in places like Singapore where they fine you for chewing gum or cane you for splashing some paint.

Mostly we need good moral education and good personality development. One way to do that is good parenting. Otherwise there has to be other ways to become a good citizen.

About rapes and crimes, we can never eliminate them, but we can hope to make them a rarity. When it happens rarely then we can call it as anamoly, but if it starts to happen more and more then it looks like corrosion.

@Birdie: May be not about education, but what about moral education? Its about controlling the animal instincts and learning how to value people among other things. Many schools teach ABCD, but fail to teach how to become a good human being.

And sure sense of impunity also has a big role, given either there is moral education or not.
