Is Libyas stand on Arms Trade Treaty justified ?

Should Libya support the regulation of arms keeping in mind the present situation.
I think Libya should not support arms trade treaty as it needs arms to keep the rebel militias (that prevent the formation of a new democracy) at bay
at the same time if Libya supports it could make it harder for the the militias to get access to arms making it safer for Libyan people
Libya has abstained to vote on the topic in un leaving itself in a nuetral position
but I am asking you to decide for libya : a politically unstable oil rich country

Speak out now 😊

Hahaha ..duds !! ...πŸ˜† ..Do ya believe such treaties can stop the militia from acquiring more arms ? There are people out there who smuggle Humans to Europe ..Can the same people not smuggle weapons into Libya ? ..

Also one must note that the usual suspect nations like Iran and North Korea have rebuffed the resolutions...Did China ratify that ? ..πŸ˜† ..So what ll happen is.those nations who did, they ll lose the trade ...and didly but that ..

Vintu :
Treaties do make a difference if legalized
The nuclear non proliferation treaty has forced many nuclear states to disarm their nuclear weapons.
Sanctions were put on Libya until it discarded its nuclear weapons
so libya was forced to disarm itself
In a way yes treaties do help if mmajor powers like us and uk support the good causes

MeMagnifico ...Let's be real ...πŸ˜†... Which treaty has ever made a difference in the history of the World we live in .. ? ..Unless it was binding on all parties ? eh ? ...Non proliferation ain't the same as CTBT ...Now ..that's the loophole I was on about ...Nations that share common interests ..form allies and PRETEND to develop weapons jointly ...in the name of peaceful implementation of Nuclear energy resources ..<<<<<< Read this carefully ...

Now that's the very reason why ..Zelzal II must look same in the design as M - 600 ? ...πŸ˜†...Like the fabric of the Tapestry flags of the Militia ..or their scraggly beards... ? ...πŸ˜†...Do ya copy ? ..Now Major powers like US ? and UK ? you say ? ...πŸ˜† ..According to me they must disarm themselves first ...They can't have tonnes of Nuclear arsenal at their disposal and expect all nations to disarm themselves ...Muslim nations ? ...Mon Muslim nations ? ...Why would they take a servile approach and accept USA as their mentor Sir ? ...πŸ˜† ..USA is the only nation to have used Atomic weapons against civilians....Am I wrong here ? ...USA has no friggin right to preach other nations to behave ...The world existed (And peacefully so...) even before Columbus...or Sir George Washington ...πŸ˜† ...

Moving onto Libya ..I would wonder is it plausible to even disarm the Militia in the near future ? ..If you don't know this ..The Militia vigils most of Libya even now ...Excepts pockets of Benghazi that they pretend to have relinquished ...πŸ˜›...And they have deep contacts in the GNC ...They are better armed than the government that they helped eliminate Gaddafi ...Its the local politics mon...those Militia my friend know how to finagle their way to achieving more arms power than they have ever had ...And that's why Libya has abstained from the voting ...The mandate is clear ...Its the extremist that must rule the nation ...always ..
