Darn.. i was at our new home and didn't see this discussion until now.
Let me see. Back in May when the news about MAMR came, I was happy for him but shocked that he would choose a movie by an unknown PH and against Shenaz Treasurywala (😲) to make his debut! I also thought he could possibly never make it big in BW. I thought he was a decent actor.. I still can't forget that scream after the terrace scene. But that was it.
But then I saw how his acting changed after he came back. I also saw how little he cared about the show and I was shocked again! During the days that followed, it struck me that whatever clicked between him and the viewers was more due to the effort put in by people around him than he himself! Maybe Sobti can act, if he really wants to, but even then he needs help!
It's normal to dream big, but you need to work for it. Has he worked on improving his acting? Well his acting fell after he came back from the movies .. in an industry that survives on looks, he started looking like crap .. I couldn't even understand what he was saying at times.. and the man can't even dance well! Sure, he could have waited for the show to end or gone for acting lessons or dance classes or whatever before he ventured into BW. What did he think? He can go into BW, among famous people with no training whatsoever and expect to make it big, with just a bunch of loonies for fans?? We constantly talked about his failure to impress in interviews.. did he try to improve? NO, instead he mocked people for teasing him. If you want to succeed, you should learn to be humble and take people's criticisms in the right spirit and learn to improve!
So if you ask me, what does Barun have that the Khans, Kapoors, Roshan and the like don't have that will make producers and directors offer him their movie? A bunch of loonie fans. The fans are ruining his image everywhere. The only way they can help him is to form a PH and give him movies .. and then go and watch it yourself!
I don't even think MAMR will get released. If it does, I doubt it will even get reviewed by the famous critics!
Do I wish him well? I would have a long time ago.. but after seeing his attitude, I don't!
