what is all this furor about? Im a muslims myself, and I dont really understand why a number of groups/people from the global muslim community are so angry and so hostile. It's embarassing and disturbing to see people acting in such a savage manner. Do people not realise how this is defaming Islam? It makes ALL muslims look like violent, intolerant fundamentalists. I think the reactions to the video have been obscene and shameful. I blame the people though, not Islam.
Because of the reprehensible actions of a number of individuals from the muslim world, buildings across the world have been vandalised; sensitive information has stolen been and damaged, AND innocent people have been killed. Killed!! Over a video. A video that you could choose to ignore and not pay attention to. A video that is corny and silly, amatuerish, inane and SO stupid that its not even worth being offended over. Its just plain stupid. Why give into what the creator of the video wanted in the first place? He wanted a reaction. A violent one. And people have done exactly that. Yes, the video is full of malice, its also offensive and disrespectful, but that does not warrant vandalism and murder! Why cant people peacefully protest?
Do you even read the news? The guy who created/directed the video describes himself as an Egyptian Israeli copt. What does the USA have to do with this? Why curse the entire nation?
Why was the US ambassador killed? The same guy who played a role in liberating oppressed Libyans from the tyrannical Gaddafi?
the copts are a minority in Egypt, who have been persecuted by Egyptians in the middle east for a long time, it seems like this guy was driven by a desire for vengeance, and an intense hatred for Islam, hence the creation of that stupid video. (Which has not been picked up by the larger muslim community, untill an egyptian tv presenter-- also a muslim, broadcasted it on his show/into mainstream middle east media- thus causing havoc) He's an extremist. Since when do people pay so much attention to extremists? I dont even consider them mentally stable.
Southpark uses sattire in its episodes and mocks religions/religious figures all the time. They've mocked Jesus on the show, but ive not heard of any christians becoming incensed and flaring up, and issuing death threats.(Barring the nutty right wing/fundamentalist groups!) Peaceful protests/without the use of violence and threatening behaviour/hostility would be a better alternative to getting one's message across.
I dont understand why some parts of the wider muslim community DEMAND respect. You cannot expect everyone to imply. What is sacred to us, maybe not be sacred to other people. Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) is reverred by muslims unanimously, but why expect the same from non muslims? It would be polite to be respectful, but not everyone in the world is.
every religion is subjected to questions, criticisms, and challenges and is invalidated. Why should Islam be exempt from that? I dont understand how this makes any difference to those who follow islam? The sensitivity is ridiculous! The religion is sacred to us, not to non believers. Why do muslims demand this exclusivity/partial treatment.?
btw, pretty sure Youtube have already issued a statement saying they won't remove the video for the time being. It doesnt break the law, in any way whatsoever. It does however disrespect islam and muslims, and im pretty sure the video will be obscured and completely removed soon enough, because it is inciting hatred, is deeply offensive to some, and is disrupting peace (as well as putting peoples lives in danger).
