Most people condemn it because having same family name can indicate a relation which can prevent the acceptability of the marriage, I think. I doubt it'll affect the kids 'coz I don't see a logic behind that but maybe it will if the doctors say so.
Whatever it is, I hope all ends well for you and your boyfriend (:

Why is tht a prob ? I have seen so many marriages with same family names kapoors, singh, sinha
Never thought tht could be a prob unless ur blood related.
I guess ur bf's family is just making execuse to call off ur wedding maybe they r not happy tht their son is not going for an arranged marriage like an obedint mama's boy.

Nothing like this can happen...

There is a 11% possibility, that a normal jodi can get an illness... And just 3% more, when they are blood related... So 14%

these deseases happens, when there are marriages in families over and over again...

Coz in muslim families its allowed to marry wid blood relatives...

Checking the Family tree to see how far you are both removed would be useful. If too close then forget it. See how if there is any relationship between the Fathers and Grand Fathers.

If you are not planning any kids then it does not matter.
I know several royalties in some countries are often marrying their cousins and close relatives.

Same family name? EH? There is no absolute connection between Genetic disorders and same 'names', Unless what you are trying to say is getting married inside the family a problem? If that's the case then science does conclude that cohabiting inside the family (e.g. first cousins) increases the risk of genetic disorders.
