What is good and what is bad?

Who decides it?

Good or bad is judged based upon the INTENTIONS behind it or the ACT itself?

This is a highly subjective issue. What is good for one can be bad for others and vice-versa. So, sometimes I wonder, it's what the majority feels about an issues makes it good or bad.Like, Might is Right.

Despite the liberal attitude everyone is trying to portray these days, I think everyone still has a very strong sense of good and bad. So is that fair? So is it right for the majority to decide what is good or bad? Is it for peaceful functioning of society that somethings have to be classified good or bad? otherwise there will be chaos with too many POVs? Where to draw line and how much should this sense of good or bad override understanding and forgiveness?

I agree with you... what might be 'good' according to me, might be 'bad' in others' view.
In my opinion, there's no such thing as good or bad... like you said, it's HIGHLY subjective. Anything on this planet has good and bad attributes to it, anything can also be looked at as 'good' and 'bad'
I personallly, dont like classifying certain things as good or bad. And I dont really like it when people say someone/something is BAD or GOOD, especially to little kids..
Coming to ACTIONS. There is no good or bad here either. This is too subjective, and vague...IDK what I am going to say here would be in connection with your post, anyways. Actions are much deeper than good or bad. Any action... if done whole-heartedly or passionately gains respect - even an act of robbery for that matter(lol...in a way). Any action, if done for others' sake, to remain in people's good books, to gain attention, or 'because everyone's doing it', or an action that is unfair to others .. loses all the respect.. atleast in my eyes.
And yes, the society long long long years ago has been programming and conditioning people to behave in a certain way. The society has been classifying things as good, bad, taboo and what not. Why? Like you said.. for the 'smooth' functioning of the society, rather to be socially 'apt'(ego kicks in here you see) . And yes, for the smooth running of the govt.. how will a Parliament control people everyone is doing what he wants because everything he does is so perfect for him? So, a man's mind has been conditioned since the ages of villages, civilizations etc.
Where to draw line and how much should this sense of good or bad override understanding and forgiveness?
This question has TOO many answers and I cant decide on what to write 😆
Hmm, when it comes to family - I believe there should be understanding and forgiveness.. Accept your loved one for who they are, what they do.
In society - this is quite impossible. Although you might go on forgiving or just smile at everyone that does 'wrong', YOU on the other hand have to be clever enough not to get into trouble. Do what is right for you and what is right in the society...one must know how to strike the balance and not cry "my life, my way" nonsense... It's true, what's right for you, is right for you.. afterall there's no particular standard, even if there was.. it's your life and what makes you happy, makes you happy! But that's too schizophreniac whilst living in an already conditioned society. There's a society, accept it.. be liberal in your thoughts, and that includes even accepting things the way they are(society i mean). Your mind, your thoughts and do whatever you can but YES, there's a fine line.. you just have to find it and act accordingly.
...nice topic!

Good or bad gets decided by our personal experiences and social conditionings. There does not seem to be any good or bad in the absolute sense. Eventually nature takes its own course

Morals are subjective, not objective. It depends on various factors, and you can never definitely say whether someone or something is wrong or right. Even in a particular case, you will find people on both sides.

Generally most persons are fully aware what is good or bad or what is best.
But the most difficult problem lies with the practical application of it in our daily lives i.e. doing what what we should do rather than doing what we like. Often it may not be practical to take certain actions or we may be too lazy and look for an easy way out.

My question is why we try to compare!!! ...nothing is ever good or bad... things simply are. I think society/ppl has its own conceptions of good and bad...
