drug addicts have rehab. there are many successful cases where they have not gone back to having them.

Yes agreed that rehab is best.
But most drug addicts keep going back again and again.
Many addicts would rather give up their life rather than the addiction. If study the problem we understand that the problem is often beyond the control of the individual.
Perhaps hypnosis works in some cases.

Research says laughter can lengthen your life and smoking shortens it. So, I always chuckle between puffs...

Some claim they puff but do not breathe the smoke into their lungs.😆
What rubbish !
To stop a friend from smoking I asked him to pay me $10 for every cigarette he smoked. He claimed he was under pressure and needed to smoke.
I find the breathing of fresh air addictive too, endorphins perhaps.

I do take a bit of wine occasionally. Too much makes me sick n throw out, a lot of suffering.

Alcohol blows away organ by organ as well in the long term if taken in excess. It's a misconception that it just messes up the liver and pancreas. Addiction to booze can can have effects on the kidneys, nervous, and cardiovascular systems, to name a few. So that right there throws open a whole trap door of many conditions.

That doesn't mean it is bad and should be banned outright. The same goes for smoking. The latter just gets talked about a lot more because people get disgusted by the smoke, and because the effects of cigarette smoking seem more morbid and graphic. Ever seen a liver affected by cirrhosis? It's a horrible sight.

Human beings never listen. If we say "Do not smoke as it is bad for health" they will not bother.

I know imprisonment is extreme but that is a wake up call.
We could alternatively say
"Smokers will not be given any employment in Govt Offices and larger corporations"
"Smokers will not be given a place in Colleges and Universtities"
"Job vacancies, smokers need not apply"

Your posts are getting more ridiculous by the minute, and it's obvious now you have a prejudice. If human beings were to listen to everything everybody said, they wouldn't even be humans any more, but finely tuned robots.

Of course people have the right to 'not bother'. They're all blessed with something called free will, which in turn manifests as the watered down basic human rights The world isn't some giant boarding school where a select few can roam around with batons in hand and school people on what's bad and what isn't. Thank God for that. Otherwise we'd have people like you operating as the totalitarian thought police.

Oh and if that education/job vacancy rule were to be applied, BTW, that guy right there in your AV wouldn't have been... you know, in your AV. So yeah, let's increase the rates of illiteracy/poor education/unemployment coz hey! Smokers are not only most susceptible to cancer, but they are the cancers of society.

And in any case, what makes you think smokers would even admit to the habit if they were questioned during an interview/enrollment process? You'd think they'd be sensible enough not to have a drag bang before a big day, no? Or do you propose the formation of an anti-smoking SWAT team to bust open the doors of candidates and search their homes for signs of tobacco?

I know I sound very caustic but when there's nothing more than disgust and random observations to back up your opinions on the topic, this is pretty much what you will get from people like me.

edit/P.S.: Not all smokers reek, BTW ;) That's why you have mints, hairsprays, sanitizers, and perfume.

Boss: Smoking?!!!
Me: Minding his own business
yup, as a occasional smoker (only cheroot cigar) for me quitting smoking is very easy , I have done it so many times ..

If you want to jail all smokers then wouldn't it be better to get it of the ciggarettes rather than putting smokers in prison?? I guess everybody should have the freedom to choose to smoke or not to smoke though.. It's just that smokers have to respect non-smokers and smoke in designated places not just anywhere.

I have close friends who are smokers too. I guess you do not smoke since you do sound sensible enough😆
I am okay if smokers harm themselves. But they harm society and others too. They are irresponsible and never think that by smoking they encourage others to smoke too.
I get angry to see young kids smoking.
They really need a few slaps.
Rehabilitation does not nip the problem at the butt.
Cigarettes should be treated as Drugs.
I know that apart from smoking the world has many other issues to tackle too.

Yes who cares if a meteor burns itself out.
But if the meteor were to be made of pure diamond the response would be different.😆
