Do our politicians really need or deserve such kind of security arrangements when the common people continue to face problems due to lack of law and order 😕
Is a politician's life more precious?

In Malaysia they now hire bodyguards from private organizations due to growing crime and abductions.
Polititians too want them, there is a big demand for lady bodyguards for familites too.

you mean the left over police force that was not on duty clearing passages for a politicians entourage, or posted at some gathering or place of visit by one of these politicians 😆 The whole country's machinery including IAS officers, security force seem to be made or serving only the interest of the chosen few

Do these politicians actually need all these security? From who? Why? 😕 It could be more of a status symbol at the exchequer's expense

Those politicians from ruling party get police security. The others have to find their own. Law enforcement is lacking in some of these countries.

JOHOR BARU - More money changers are now hiring bodyguards to protect themselves and their families from criminals and rival groups.

Johor Bodyguard Association secretary Mohd Firdaus Moham-med Amirrudin said previously, politicians topped the list of those who employed bodyguards but the trend had recently changed.

There have been several reports involving money changers being robbed recently.

Mohd Firdaus said the association received many applications from money changers who wanted to have a bodyguard for security.

"Most of our members are former police officers and soldiers who have years of experience as bodyguards," he told The Star after the association's annual general meeting here yesterday.

Mohd Firdaus said the association would usually conduct checks on their clients to ensure that they themselves were not involved in criminal activities.

"Only after that do we send our bodyguards to them," he said.

He also said the association would also carry out checks on new members to ensure they had no criminal records.

Mohd Firdaus said their clients also preferred hiring female bodyguards to protect their wives and children, adding that many were not comfortable having male bodyguards to watch over their wives and daughters.

"In Johor, we have about 53 members and only two are women.

"The association encourages more women to become bodyguards as there is a demand for them," he said.

"We would work with the Home Ministry and other government agencies to promote the association and encourage more people to join the industry especially women," he said, adding that a bodyguard earned about RM5,000 (S$2,067) a month.

Mohd Firdaus said the association would conduct a training course for those who wanted to become a bodyguard from June this year.

"The association offers basic course and advanced tactical shooting course. The fee is RM1,500 but the shooting course is only for those who are licensed to carry a gun," he said.

If we consider a politician, then, i think he/she needs extra-security coz they are the people with maximum haters n lovers...anything may happen!
But what i feel is,
if we consider common people, their lives are very precious ofcourse but at the same time, this is surely not possible for each n every person in the country to have haters or any insecurities
.
Ones who need it, do keep high level security systems for them.
Ones who cannot afford security systems, muz be taken into consideration.

but 415 security men for one mayawati 😲 Isnt that a bit too much she must have more haters than lovers in that case.
This is when crime is reported in the state almost on a daily basis. Common man is prey to petty crimes as well as terrorist attacks . we hardly ever had any politician killed. can only think of Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi who were assasinated. cant help thinking how many guards they had kept ..

If Indian Govt. can spend 5.2crore for protecting Kasab...politician n VIP security ke liye kuch kuch bi kar sakta hey...and I think Indian Government keeping him alive so as to repeat the storing of 1998...n waiting again for terrorist to hijack nd demand for the release of kasab...

Last budget says, the cost of shielding VIPs has more than 600+ millions
