Who says India is Third world country.. and is poor, leave aside Swiss accounts of our Neta jis, bureaucrats and Corporate, Recent development in TN election yet again proved we are booming ...

now its not only Vote honey for nominal Money.. they are actually distributing "Mixer Grinder" to "Laptop" to attract people to vote them... 😆 Man! I should have been there would have told them this time I wont vote without Mac Book Air 😆

so now debate shall be should this be stopped or should continue,

My POV - it shall be legalized, at least this way our Neta ji log give something back to Society 🤔

^^ ..and further encourage bribery ..and so soon after Anna hazare's fast !? 😲 😆

Most of the current Netajis can afford to dole out such sops for the voters . Legalising it would mean cuting out any chance for candidates who cannot afford to distribute such expensive gifts from contesting further elections. As the situation stands today it is very difficult for candidates to get "tickets" from the main political parties to contest elections ,unless backed in some way by sufficient money power . It does not matter how that "support" was built up. The Lokpal bill that Anna Hazare has been advocating so far concentrates on removing the corrupt politicians from power- the focus being on exit. Wouldn't it be a more effective strategy to focus on preventing corrupt and criminal politicians from entering into the election fray instead?

Prevention should be better than cure. Conditions can be created where honest and sincere citizens get a fair chance to contest and win elections. Those with criminal backgrounds should be disqualified from contesting…at least till they get cleared by the courts.

It's time either the EC or SC should intervene and stop this fraud... This is nothing but purchase of votes and should be stopped!..As long as there are people who fall for these gimmicks, there will be politicians who will exploit us...& This is one way paying money to the voters. if it is paid before election from Candidate pocket( in turn they loot). Other way to pay to from tax money( there also loot )!! For getting power they can do anything now!!😕

I never said to vote them after having the stuff, voting still remains with right of voter, my point is legalizing this will help to generate revenues and will project the correct financial pic of our Neta jis.. and first and foremost, in how many parts of India votes are given on basis of "Fairness" or "Development", leave aside countable Metro (btw, the above is having in Chennai too) even we the citizen get biased when it comes to vote, biased towards "Caste", "Religion", "Language", and even "region". If that wasn't the case then SuShree Mayawati instead of wasting money building parks all around UP with her "Statue" would be building Schools, College and Hospitals. Delhi wouldn't be struggling with Traffic Jams. and and Maharashtra's Minister's son shouldnt have dared to get his pistol out to kill one of his assistant and Sibu Soren would have been in Jail.

To end the corruption I feel the first thing we need is Better police force, better bureaucracy, but the salary a hawaldaar gets, he won't be stopping anytime soon to take bribe... Anna's moment is a ray of hope but meanwhile we need work arounds

Oh you mean cheat the cheaters !😆 Once the scamsters are kicked out and people realise that corruption wont be tolerated we would have enough revenues for legitimate use with us.
In a democracy/republic,if not in a tyranny, people get the government they deserve, especially when the voters let prejudice and bigotry rule, work against their own economic interests! They are easily manipulated by the ruling elite, who divide and rule. Enlightened voters are vastly outnumbered .This can be taken care of. Once we have better people at the helm the police force and bureaucracy will also fall in line. Yes, Anna's moment does give us a ray of hope . If the citizens continue to show such solidarity and proactiveness the hurdles would soon be overcome.

how much I believe in that, yes in democracy we get the govt we deserve!
I would love to believe what you mentioned can happen in atleast next gen! see, I and you can afford loads of things and avoid bribing any govt official, but think about lower middle class to poor, who any day will prefer to give Rs 10 as bribe to Hawaldar instead giving Rs 200 challan, and then think about Hawaldar who himself is living a miserable life in police line with almost nil amenities a human wants, and ... in a city like Delhi or Mumbai do you think Rs 5K will be sufficient enough for him to give his children a good education? or healthy life? I don't think.....
having said that, govt & bureaucracy are doing nothing about it... reason - the day Police will improve the whole messy structure will fall down....

so till then get something out from these Useless politicians 😉

How about a system like China where the havaldar will not have to worry about insufficient salary to educate his child or about other basic amenities? The state takes over complete control- is that what we want?

You are going to other extreme, "definitely not" is the answer.. Communal govt no ways can survive in India, leave alone WB..it's different story altogether... that said, so do you think Hawaldar can't get the salary better then what they are getting right now? and better salary wont motivate them to perform better? and more so performance shall be the measure of promotions where as in India the process is based on caste n sycophancy , even if underperformer is from certain caste or sycophant enough will be promoted first..
till these kind of loopholes r there in the system growth of India as "whole"is far away
