Food! If there is anything that can even make something as morbid as death to be exciting, it has to be food. The inspiration for this topic is deliciously simple. Last night I watched Food Network's 'Best Thing I Ever Ate' and their episode theme was last supper. Food Network stars discussed and shared what they would want their last meal on earth to be and why.
So, if you were to die and were given a choice for your last meal. What would you want your last meal on earth to be and why?
My choice would be the 'Brat & Bacon Pretzel Burger' at The Great Dane brewpub in Madison. Any Wisconsinite worth their salt knows that the bratwurst is best food on earth. It is a flavor explosion of ground veal and beef making the perfect sausage. Only in this burger this sausage magically transforms to a delicious patty, all the goodness that is a bratwurst in a burger patty. That is not all though, this juicy patty is topped with bacon – God's greatest gift to mankind. The burger not any ordinary Kaiser roll or sesame bun. No this piece of art is assembled on another exquisite example of fine craftsmanship – the pretzel, a fresh baked warm soft chewy pretzel drizzled with butter and sea salt. It is then served with a pilsner mustard. It is my favorite burger in the whole world, but I don't eat it as often as I'd like. After all its other name is 'Cardiac Arrest' served on a plate. But I'm going to die anyways, might as well die with this Cardiac arrest of the heavens.
I'll wash it down with a few pints of Strongbow Hard Cider, brewed right there at the Great Dane. The scents of fall and harvest, the crisp goodness of sweet tart apples all in hoppy brew. What a way to end a life.
