Rahman earlier claimed that his song's popularity will surpass waka waka
NEW DELHI: It will be another 10 days before the Commonwealth Games theme song is officially launched but Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman on Monday promised it would be worth the wait as his 'Yaaro India bula liya' would be unlike anything that has happened before.

Rahman said the song would go beyond Shakira's chart-buster for this year's soccer World Cup ' Waka Waka'.
A R Rahman asked to rework on CWG theme

AR Rahman has come under heavy criticism for his latest composition which is the theme song of the upcoming Commonwealth games. Many believe that the said theme song does not match up to the genius of Rahman. They are also miffed by the fact that it took six months and Rs 5 crore for Rahman to come up with such a shoddy composition.
Now, Rahman is re-working on the song since it lacks any appeal. The organisers now want Rahman to compose the CWG theme song on the level of the recent FIFA theme song.

finally the facade that is rahman's "godliness" or "greatest md of all time" status has been exposed by his own mediocre piece of work.

For a spiritual humble guy he's quite the man, charging 5 crores for a mediorce song!

I'd divide ARR's music into two broad categories: one is heavenly and the other is shallow, gimmicky and repetitive.

I find it funny when he spreads his arms wide as if he's saying "Here's your music god"
-- it reminds me of the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro. Then there are the "Rahmaniacs" who'd tell you "the Maestro" is the greatest music director/composer India has ever produced. I'd like to tell them I've also heard music of SD Burman, Madan Mohan, Shankar-Jaikishan, Salil Chowdhury, RD Burman and some other greats.

AR Rahman's rare musical talent makes him a great musician, his luck makes him bigger than what he is.

OMG I HAVE THE SAME FEELING!!! GOOGLY, U'RE MY IF GOD!

The celebrities are not paid for their work...they are paid for the brand name....how their work turns out is a different story altogether........they are artists not scientists....their work might not be the same every time.......ARR may not be the best MD of all times but he is definitely the best among the specimens that we have today like Anu Malik and HR and he is definitely better than thiefs like Pritam....

anu malik has made amazing songs, albeit some copied. His best like from duplicate or baazigar arent copied tho lol

and rahman copies from folk songs, I don't think "thief" is specifically defined as "steals from korea"

at least give us something that justifies that amount... this song doesn't serve his reputation, and it took him 6 months to come up with this? 🤢... as a rahman fan, i'm disappointed.

As I said the amount is for the BRAND NAME and not the product....all the top notch brands do dish out a substandard product once in a while.....that does not take anything away from the brand unless dishing out the substandard product becomes a habit............do u think that Amir/SRK/Amitabh would not get the same amount if they perform bad in one movie???.....it wouldn't matter...so stop thinking that the song is worth 5 crores...its not...its the Academy award winner ARR who is worth 5 crores....
Having said this ...I have to agree that ARR could have done much better......

yes i know, it's still a waste of money.. i'm not saying rahman doesn't deserve such hefty prices, being India's topmost composer, he does.. but then, from a quality brand, you expect a quality product, this isn't a quality product... it quite simply sucks, the outcome doesn't justify the amount. he's been asked to recompose, let's see what happens.
