If they are two sides of the same coin then one may not exist without the other. However, brain and neurons have both positive and negative signals (will have to check). Thus if there are only positive signals then perhaps love can exist without hate.

Endorphins. But there aren't only positive signals, there are different chemicals that reach our brains through nerves. That's why you feel sad when someone hurt you.

I think all emotions are part of being human, love, anger, sadness but I don't think hate and love go together. When there is love, there is no room for hate. If there is hate then it wasn't love to begin with.
