Threatening a celebrity doesn't bother me as much as limiting his right to speak freely does. Freedom of speech is extremely important to me. Somehow, this reminds me of the Rushdie controversy; who knows what will happen in the future.

The Thackerays have a right to express their opinion. They have a right to contradict SRK. They have a right to be offended. They have a right to protest his film. They have a right to ask their supporters to boycott the film. They have a right to stand outside theaters and peacefully hand out flyers pamphlets, hold signs protesting SRK.

They do not have a right to suppress SRK's opinion. They do not have a right to threaten him. They do not have a right to break the law in form of vandalism. They do not have the right to disrupt the peace. They do not have the right to bully people into conforming their opinion. In fact suppression of freedom of speech, threatening, bullying, vandalism and violence are actions chosen by terrorists.
