'Dahhej' - Your friendly family horror show
Nothing can stop the trash that they churn out on Indian television except
the massmurder of certain people who decide to make these horrendous shows.
When The Bitch says something like that, she really means it. But as tempting as that might sound, since it's not a practically viable option, let's just learn to skilfully disregard all the trash they manage to so effortlessly churn out until a comprehensive execution plan is chalked out.
Here's a new one - It's called 'Dahhej' and it is going to air on the new Reliance funded channel, 9X. But since, the channel doesn't even appear in my channel surf list, it isn't of much consequence to my life. But if you are wondering why we are talking about it today, then there is a burning and extremely annoying reason to it.
If you live in Bombay city, 'Dahhej' will make your life feel claustrophobically inconsequential. The streets and busses are sprinkled with towering hoardings of an overtly made up pink face and her bleeding hairline. Blood makes The Bitch nauseous and I can't seem to fathom which law finds it sane to allow public splashes of blood all over the city.
Even if you discounted that as creative suffocation, what's so imaginative about a hoarding with a girl and her blood flowing down her forehead? To add distress to the dirt, the girl, Anisha Kapoor looks terrifyingly scary!
Maybe The Bitch will soon start a forum for distressed citizens to sue annoying directors and producers.
The hoardings in themselves are so repulsive, so you can't hope to expect Disney characters jumping out of the screenplay (assuming it exists).
So basically, if you were wondering where this story was copied from, it is an old Sri Devi - Jaya Prada starrer, 'Tohfa'. In that movie Sri Devi sacrifices her love by marrying Shakti Kapoor because she figures that her sister falls in love with Jeetendra and thinks that's the right thing to do.
If that was stupid, this is ludicrous because it's going to run for the next ten years. Whew!
