Does India have to beat SRI LANKA

just wondering im not a cricket die hard, but to qualify for the elite 8 does india have to beat Sri Lanka since they already lost to Bangladesh.

yeah to qulaify to the super eight a team will have to win 2 matches...india have only 1 and so will hav eto win against srilanka... 😛

Yes! win against Sri Lanka is a MUST for India..... and the best part about it is, if India win against SL, they will not only reach super eights, but also take 2 points with them.... while SL will go with ZERO points 😊

All this analysis, taking into consideration that BAN can't score 500 against Bermuda in their match... and I don't think this is a very unlikely assumption. 😊

I did not understand the bold part... how come SL with go with 0 points and India will go with 2 points?

its the rules of the super 8's

The qualifier takes the points that they got by beating the other qualifier of their group into the super 8's and they wont play each other in the super 8's .

for eg if srilanka and India qualify to the super 8's . India will take through 2 points coz they beat srilanka in their head ot head match ,who happen to be the other qualifier .

This is from wikipedia abt the Rule

The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super 8 stage and any points they may have earned against the other qualifier from their own group will be carried through. Points earned against the non qualifing teams in the same pool will not be carried over
