Some wild predictions coming through

Travis Head is unlikely to cross score of 49 tomorrow in Semi Final against India. Score of 5, 23 also great possibility.

One astrologer has come up with some wild predictions for the semifinal. As per the same, Travis Head is likely to be dismissed for 5 or 23 runs. Or at max 49. The same astrologer also predict Virat Kohli to emerge as the second-highest run-scorer of the day. A pivotal moment in the match is also expected to unfold around about 40 minutes into the game. The team batting well is likely to experience a few tumbles along the way. If you're an Indian cricket fan who believes in astrology, it may not be a bad idea for Australia to bat first

Ashwin wants Rohit to do what MS Dhoni did years with him – Give the new ball to a spinner, in this case, Varun Chakaravarthy, and unleash him straightaway on Travis Head. We mean, why not? India haven't found the anti-dote to Head, but if they don't try, they never will. Ashwin was part of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He saw from close quarters Head's assault in his teammates. For all you know, this could well be the fix to India's woes against Head. Not just Varun. But Varun with the new ball. Will Rohit listen to his former No. 1 spinner?

Head vs Rohit – battle of big-hitting openers

India vs Australia LIVE Score, Semi Final: Only Travis Head has a higher strike rate than Rohit Sharma among openers with more than 100 runs in the first 10 overs of an ODI since 2023. However, Rohit is the only batter to have scored more 1000 runs in this phase of an ODI in this period. They both love to take the bowlers on and deflate attacks in the first powerplay and so this should be a fun watch.

Ravi: "Though India have lost two most recent knockouts against Australia, they have a good knockout record in Champions Trophy. They knocked out Australia in Quarter Finals in both 1998 and 2000 editions."

Prasanna KumarS: "If India takes revenge today, We would have to face The Proteas in the Finals who are waiting to take revenge on us as well." Wow, you are massively under-estimating New Zealand.

Righto, what's first. Let's talk about the pitch, shall we? It is going to be a fresh pitch in Dubai.

The surfaces so far have been a bit two-paced in Dubai, while there has also been some swing for the fast bowlers early on. For all the advantage that is being talked about for India, Rohit suggested that the pitches in India have been challenging for both batters and bowlers.

Positives galore for India in dominant run thus far

India made Bangladesh and Pakistan look like they were out of their depth in their first two matches of the tournament. In the first, they blasted away Bangladesh's top five in the first nine overs. Despite a remarkable recovery, Bangladesh could do little as India ran off to a six-wicket win. India then took full advantage of Pakistan's conservative batting to run off to another six-wicket win. Shubman Gill scored a century in the first match, Virat Kohli in the second. There was a little more of a challenge against New Zealand in the third, with Mr. Consistent Shreyas Iyer propping up their batting. However, the brilliance of Varun Chakravarthy ended the game as a contest before it could really heat up.

No Pat Cummins, no Mitch Starc, no Josh Hazlewood. Zero wins in the last two editions of the Champions Trophy (3 losses and 3 No Results). Came into this competition on the back of a 0-2 ODI series loss in Sri Lanka. Conceded 351 runs against England in their opening match and lost Travis Head & Steve Smith cheaply in reply. With rain playing spoilsport in their next two encounters, Australia would have been out of the tournament if they had lost against their arch-rivals. But they found a way against England as they recorded the highest successful chase in all ICC tournaments, thanks to Josh Inglis' hundred and valuable contributions from other batters. Smith and Head were dismissed for single-digit scores in that game but looked in superb touch against Afghanistan in the run-chase with the former registering a quickfire fifty but rain played the role of party-pooper. The World Champions will be forced to make a change as Matthew has been ruled out of the tournament with a quad injury. They may not be the overwhelming favourites as it could be a trial by spin but it's never easy to bet against the Aussies in an ICC event.
