Defending champion India U19 men's cricket team will take on Bangladesh in their opening group game of the ICC U-19 Men's World Cup 2024 at the Manguang Oval on Saturday. After winning their first trophy in 2002 under Mohammad Kaif, Indian teams went on to win the U-19 World Cup in 2008, 2012, 2018, and 2022.

Bangladesh, champions in 2020, albeit in a much different avatar, are unconcerned about their opponents' pedigree and plan to treat the upcoming bout as a 'normal game'. "We will play it like a normal game. We have had good preparation for the tournament. We have had great input from our coach, so we will try to get a winning start in the tournament against India," Bangladesh captain Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby said.

The Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein is expected to offer a balanced surface, with both batters and bowlers getting equal assistance.
