South Africa barbecued the defending champions, England, at this ground on Saturday, and are among the red-hot favourites to make it into the top four; Bangladesh began with a victory but have been tepid thereafter, losing three on the bounce. But this is becoming a World Cup of upsets, following another famous win for Afghanistan in Chennai last night; and South Africa have already been sucker-punched once by Netherlands. Can Shakib Al Hasan and co topple the Proteas? Will Shakib even play, after a quad injury kept him out against India? And what about South Africa's captain, Temba Bavuma, who missed out on a dream Wankhede appearance at the weekend through illness? South Africa become absolute monsters when they play at the Wankhede. At least, the above two results justify the same. If the centuries by QdK, ABD and Faf bruised India way back in 2015 at this venue, it were the spectacular knocks by Klaasen, Hendricks and Jansen that blew England away a couple of days back. Coming into the game after an upset against Netherlands, South Africa were at their absolute best against the defending champions. Had it not been for those freebies given away towards the closing stages, and of course for those dropped chances, England might have lost by an even bigger margin.

Barring their loss against the Dutch, they have been clinical across all games, across all departments. Given the way they have brushed aside teams, they are not only the favourites to win today, but also one of the favourites to qualify for the semis. Most of their batters have fired and the bowlers have found their rhythm to perfection as well. On the other hand, Bangladesh won against Afghanistan, but barring that victory they have looked pretty ordinary in the competition. Will they be able to turn the tables around? Temba Bavuma - the South African captain and Shakib Al Hasan - Bangladesh captain, both missed their previous games owing to illness and injury respectively, so it will be interesting to see if they are fit and raring to go in this important clash. "Hello from a sweltering Wankhede. Temba Bavuma is on the field helping the bowlers with their lines. Not sure if that means he will play," quips Telford Vice from the venue.
