It's a hot afternoon in Bengaluru. The lines for tickets outside the stadium were long and building about an hour ago. A fair few people in but a lot more are expected to join in due course.

Mebs: "A must win game for both teams. I'm expecting Australia at it's utmost best as a loss could mean an early exit from the World Cup, Pakistan on the other hand seems to be confused with selection issues. Could be another one sided game"

Discussions - There has been a lot of murmurs that have sneaked out from both quarters. Pakistan's has been louder and a little disconcerting for their fans. All might not be well. Cummins and his men seem cocooned from the outer world as should be the case in these big tournaments but one more loss will only give more decibels to the detractors. In 2011, last time these two teams met in a WC game in India, Pakistan got the better of Australia to break their winning run which started from the 1999 WC final. Bengaluru is a featherbed for the batters and almost a guillotine if a you are a bowler. The boundaries are shorter. The balls fly high and long. Leatherhunt is the favourite hobby if you are a fielder!

In the last 6 world cup ODIs between these two teams, team losing the toss has won the match.

In the last 5 ODIs between these two teams, Australia batted first in all 5 matches. Out of those 5, Pakistan won the latest two matches and Australia has won the first 3 matches.

Pitch Report | Ian Bishop and Shane Watson: Glorious sunshine. Dimensions - 76 m straight, square almost equidistant (63m and 64m). This looks like a really nice surface. There's a really nice grass cover. It's rock hard, really good base to this surface, so the ball is gonna zip through for the fast bowlers very nicely. There's not going to be much purchase for the spinners at all. Deception is going to be their friend tonight. The last two nights, there's been a lot of dew on the ground, that's definitely going to be a factor.
