F o u r years of IPK magic

Filled with moments golden and sometimes tragic

As Russia and Arabia now go g a g a

Dissolving into the abyss of an e v e r l a s t i n g saga

The caravan of f a n s keeps spreading worldwide

With an o v e r w h e l m i n g love that can no longer hide

Time and again, the heart craves for a Rabba ve

Unbelievable but true, this love is here to stay

So let's do herewa a t h u m k a , therewa a thumka

Let the man go what the', while his girl goes s a n k a

But never can he deny the calls of the dupatta

Hamesha will go on, kahani Arnav aur Khushi ka

Arnav Khushi

Hai dhoop sa wo agar, wo chandni raat si hai"the 28 year old arrogant ,"What the" Arnav Singh Raizada Harvard-educated, suave, wealthy, ruthless, business tycoon of AR industries in Delhi and the low middle 18 year girl from Lucknow, traditional, principled, righteous, spirited, chirpy Sankadevi, Khushi Kumari Gupta---never was there a couple more mismatched! Yet they were thrown together in a nameless relationship and unknown to themselves bound in an epic mohabbat that began with their volatile nafrat. However hard they tried to push each other away, their dhadkans became one. In Arnav, Khushi found a modern liberal man who gave her the freedom to be herself while Khushi led her Laad Governor from his dark painful past to a starlit sky of their ajeeb pyaarf or always and hamesha.

Akash Payal

The conservative calm jodi of Akash Payal is diametrically opposite and complimentary to the unconservative fiery jodi of Arnav Khushi. Khushi's jiji, Payal and Arnav's cousin, Akash meet and fall in love in a quiet, shy mature manner that is so cute. Their restrained love is sometimes so maddening that you feel like goading them into action! But both possess strength of character and an old worldly charm that makes them so lovable. Their greatest credit is their unquestioned faith and support for Arnav Khushi.

Anjali Arnav

Arnav was her "papad ka tudka... gussewala Chhotey"and she was his "toffee se mithi... sabse siyani Anjali Di", two siblings, different in outlook but bonded in heart. "Mujhe is duniya se koi matlab nahi, meri asli duniya to aap ho" is how Arnav described his relationship with his Di. To the world he was the rude, arrogant, khadoos ASR but for his sweet, smiling, kind Di with the 'pooja thali' he was the ever protective caring brother who made it his life mission's to protect his gullible sister from all suffering and pain. After their mother's shocking death, hers was the lap he could lay his head and cry in and she was his source of strength in his arduous journey to become a self made man. From the easy light fun teasing between the siblings to the depth of sacrifice they were willing to make for each other, Arnav Anjali are the best loving brother sister duo in the world!

Khushi Payal

Payal Kumari Gupta and Khushi Kumari Gupta were not born of the same parents, but they were sisters and friends in the sweetest sense of the words . On the outside, Payal was the responsible, calm and steady one, while Khushi was the more vivacious, sometimes resourceful, more often madcap, younger sister. However, when Khushi needed protection, Payal was ready to stand up to the intimidating Arnav Singh Raizada , just as Khushi was willing to enter into a contract marriage for her di's happiness. Surprisingly similar in their simple loving ways, were these two sisters who would together dream about rajkumars, wish upon shooting stars and share happiness and tears. No wonder Devi maiyya made sure both sisters wed into the same house.

Arnav Akash

Perhaps it was the offscreen friendship that translated perfectly into the believable, fun and contemporary onscreen relationship between Akash and Arnav Singh Raizada. In his soft spoken polite manner Akash managed to often spot his bhai's unexpected response to Khushi. ASR himself, in an amused indulgent fashion, was often relatively carefree with his younger cousin. Akash had an unflinching Lakshman like devotion towards his bhai, while ASR knew he could depend on Akash without fail. In all that changed over time in IPK, this bonding between the two brothers always remained unshakable and entertaining, giving us delightful moments from mock suicide plan for Payal, escaping NK's arrival, new year's eve to the legendary bachelor party planning.

Khushi Anjali

Right from the start when Anjali welcomed Khushi into Shantivan they formed a strong bond of mutual affection. These two cornerstones to Arnav Singh Raizada's happiness were closest to each other when his di consoled Khushi with a hug, as the young girl cried missing her own mother on the day of asr and anjali's mother's barsi. Anjali was instrumental in ensuring Khushi remain in ASR's life, from literally blackmailing her to return to Shantivan to being the clueless reason of the contract marriage. Try hard as evil Shyam might, ASR's di and her Khushiji's relationship survived and thrived through it all. Fond memories of the mischievous smiling di teasing her Khushi bhabhi, as she did on that magical Holi, will always be there as integral reminders of how well IPK understood relationships.

Have we reached Nainital yet?

Where does a journey begin? Where does it end? Did this one start with a man in a bad mood rushing into a car and turning on the ignition? Or did it actually take off with a girl on a scooter, a boy in a helicopter, each seeking a destination, one fine day in Lucknow? The city of Bhoolbhulaiya, of getting lost to find your way.

But first some pakora. Did you just wake up in the boot of a car and reach for a box full of pakora and never stopped munching or talking? Did you just grimace darkly and looked incredulously at a girl and go "what the!" And who ran away with your clothes leaving you looking so pretty in a wedding joda? And who told you to look so good with a lassi moustache on your upper lip?

She said you'd eloped. did you wish you had? How coolly you picked her up and took her to that honeymoon suite. And terrorised her... oh, you're mean.

but look at you next morning, rushing off to look for her as memory came. And with that, contrition.

The tenderest sweetest moments between a man and a woman who were not headed toward each other, but all routes changed and took unwarranted twists and turns and bypasses and diversions only so that you could reach each other...

Via car, phone call to aman (what an introduction), bluetooth, jungle, ditch, caaman sense, dhaba, lassi, nahiiin!, shhh!, shit!, haan maar daloonga isse isski himmat kaisi hui tumhe... etc., Arnav Sing Raizada and Khushi Kumari Gupta found themselves in a place that was definitely not Nainital... but could anyone say, the destination had not been reached.

F r i e n d s and l o v e r s

They were the most entrancing lovers on screen and the most whacky friends off it. If Arshi made us go dhakdhak and dizzy, SaRun made us giggle and laugh and sigh and want their relationship to always be this blessed and happy.

Sanaya Irani and Barun Sobti met while making Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? and seem to have hit it off soon. She was a tad senior to him in the industry but that didn't get in the way of their becoming good friends. When we saw their offscreens it was quite evident nothing was being put on for the sake of publicity... it was all mad laughter filled, slightly tired in teh middle of teh shoot, SaRun vibe. He called her Tintin or even Kabootri, she always had that indulgent tone in her voice when speaking of him, making him carry weights, pulling his hair, talking about ahem "gas".

Ah too many memories.

And wonderfully enough, the entire cast got along beautifully. Akshay and Barun were very close. Everyone loved Daljeet. Abhaas, Karan, Deepali, Sana... there was this vibrant congenial air on the sets and even the older actors, Jayshree T, Abha Parmar, Utkarsha Naik, all seemed to be completely at ease with each other. Actually several creatives also were good friends; Gautam Hegde, Arshad Khan and Lalit Mohan among them.

No doubt at all, this camaraderie and trust in the team and their crazy loopy fun times added that IPKKND element to the show. It's been more than two years they aren't working together, yet many of them remain friends, meeting regularly. In fact, it all feels like one big happy family...

Not surprising, the show led to many friendships... even among viewers. On forums, on Facebook, across borders and age. Till date, people meet over Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? and become good friends. Like we have and Cheers! to that.

Here's to that special thing called real friendship and that hamesha thing called love.

Arhi 1st Rabba Ve
by ..ASR.lover..

He was angry, hell angry on her. But he would make her pay he would make up his loss by making her model for AR. And teach her a lesson she will never forget in her entire life. He rushed down the stairs in order to see her, he wanted to witness her state, after all she should know what happens when you try to ruin Arnav Singh Raizada's work. But as he descended down the stairs he saw the most beautiful sight in front of his eyes. Khushi Kumari Gupta clad in a Red saree with little diamond bordering at its end. What was she ? The eighth wonder ? What the... ? What the hell are you thinking. And what the hell is this music I am hearing in the background ? Rabba Ve what the heck is that ? Ughh...I have gone officially mad in her company.

She was shivering as she locked his eyes with his burning eyes. As if his stare alone will burn her alive. Desire flamed through her. A feeling unknown clamped her insides. Light tingling was going on in her stomach. She was sure it was acidity, Ughh what the heck is wrong with me? And what is this music playing ? Rabba ve? I mean seriously ? Khushi you need a psychiatrist very soon.

Arhi rain scene

by _Mini_

Khushi stood in the rain, shivering, lost and flustered. All at once, she saw the bright headlights of the approaching car but any attempt to move failed her. Swiftly, she was crushed into a cage of sheer steel. She closed her eyes as her arms automatically went around her savior. She felt safe cocooned within those brawny arms. It was still raining but she was safe against that warm thudding heart. Her hands slowly slide down to the strapping chest.

She opened her eyes to look at the steel face of her tormentor. Her eyes locked with the cruel Laad Governor and she turned into a statue. Once again she felt the upheaval within her chest as she starred into the liquid fire within his eyes. He jerked her away from himself and turned but before that he saw the hurt in her eyes. He was not happy to see her in pain.

Khushi's vulnerability stirred something inside of Arnav and he could not take his eyes off her drenched body. He knew what he was doing was wrong, but he was nothing if not stubborn.

Arhi tuhi bata mere maula moments (2011)
by _Mini_

Khushi sent a silent prayer to the stars above,

With grit to control intact, Arnav sneered at the fools who fall in Love.

And, so they kept crossing paths, their lives like threads entwined,

Her shimmering hazels now rule his core, such mystical mediation of the divine.

Unknown feelings stir deep, He couldn't bear the tears in her eyes,

Yet she stood amidst the storms of emotions, at the mercy of his callous reprise.

He is the one who gives the wound, the one with the healing powers,

As the universe conspires and the stars align for the destined lovers.

What is this desire, restlessness, unexplained yearning called?

What is this feeling of belonging named?

Walls crumbled, doubts dissolved, wounds healed, and flames have come alive,

Where hate once had its den, now dreams cherish, love fearlessly thrives.

His perfect world now compiled in his absolute devotion to Her,

Her life before she belonged to him a mere blur,

Khushi clutched her thumping heart, emotions yawning anew,

Tu hi bata mere Maula, Iss Pyaar Ko Kya naam doon?

Arhi Diwali moments

by ArshiHamesha.

The growing feeling of their presence in each other's life was making them restless .They both seem getting lost in each others every second of their lives. Both couldn't resist taking their eyes off from each other no matter what .Their hearts were yearning with this cindering longing and that scream was clear to both hearts and eyes. She sees him every where and finds him right inside of her tiny heart which was unable to handle the ocean of his love ..this acidity of Dhak Dhak was able to reach him every time.."Har Bar ...Hamesha" ...and he couldn't resist showing his vulnerability either ... His oozing passion was felt to her core during removing dust from her eyes , during fairy lights and while dressing her with anklet. He couldn't blink either while inhaling her beauty yet his proactive side towards her got stronger. She jolted him up just by mere word of "Marriage " and he fell taking her in his cocoon spreading all the colors of rangoli around them.

Among all of those colors, she appeared in red ,among Diyas...smiling ...by raising his heartbeat and his feet followed the rhythm of intoxicated color which was not only enveloping her along with him but also making him forget all of his pain, ego and his past. She closed her eyes in her consent , ready to seal an inebriated deal under his touch which was playing havoc at that moment .Lips come closer with longing and neeed but these aspiring desires got halted by his fear of love.He announced his wedding wish with La by shattering her and his own heart .He called all this a bluff by accusing her of as a gold digger."means nothing to me..."

Arhi 1st Teri Meri
by .AsrhiHamesha.

Arnav and Khushi, a name of courtship among deals in between them. Both accept each others' challenge to defeat in sangeet but the purpose was the same ,just to win each other. A song which depicts their inner turmoil so well brings them closer than ever...as The Music begins and the dance starts ...Khushi turns to leave but Arnav holds her hand with determination "teri meri ,meri teri yeh kahani hai mushkil"...He makes her twirl into his arms making her to lean on him... .."ek ladka aur ek ladki ki yeh kahani hai naye'do lafzoon mein yeh bayan na ho paye"...Khushi follows the rhythm which brings a smile on his face...which stirs her heart seeing his desirous eyes and she moves away.

While Arnav's determination doesn't stop to expresses his state of mind openly ...pouring his yearnings at her by caressing her with his soft touch , holding her in his safe cocoon, and awakening her trust in him again .His yearnings and longings since from the beginning made him restless and today he can't stop expressing his feelings at all .

He guides her hand to glide it on his face as this is hard for her too to resist...she melts in for a moment when he picks her up in air and then glissades her body against his hard visage by claiming her his ...Their cravings for each other are burning both of them ,but Khushi has been incinerated once on Diwali, shows her hesitancy. "Ek Duje se hue Juda jab ek doje keh liye bane "..but Arnav tries to stop her from leaving by reminding her all of the longing moments which are always special for them. She walks back to him and holds his hand gazing attentively into his remorseful yet passionate eyes while darkness prevails holding their yearnings only in between them away from the world. He tells her later, "Main Shart khabi nahin harta" and here he won her heart once again. Indeed both have won and lost their hearts in this courtship of Deals as always.

Arhi I hate you scene

by .ArshiHamesha.

He dragged her to the stairs of the Temple, dragged her in front of his family to face the wrath , Her family abandoned her , but she remains quiet ...She comes to him ..Her strong belief, her Arnavji who makes things right..She shares her deepest fears of being an orphan again and asks him the reason of the marriage, but he remainsquiet. His fights with himself what to believe or not and today makes him to seek answers. He's been tired of her silence , not fighting back as he can't take her distance for him but today Khushi has had enough of this for impenetrable behavior of him too. The girl who has been estranged isolated from her loved ones refuses to break down but matches his frustration, his anger by openly stating he has ruined her life.

The man of whom she had woven such beautiful dreams is the one who has shattered them into a thousand pieces and he dares to question her.. Lioness is back!. At the intense and furious peak of their emotions ,Arnav shouts out desolately that he hates her ..and Then a sudden stillness around his heart passes by making him realize what a blunder he has made .The shock upon his face as he uttered these words and the wish to take them back was evident.. the fear that her answer will shatter that bit of hope he lived on but the moment and the words which he was escaping and dreading to hear since the terrace scene is right here, HER declaration .. loud and clear.."I hate you too...".

His heart stops at this moment as the hope he had been clinging on to is crushed under her confirmed words. "nobody can love you...because you just deserve hate".. that one reality hits him.. and that moment he realized that he still did care for what she felt for him and don't want her to hate him.Because her words "aap jitni karte hain uss se kahin ziyada.." [ more than you hate me..] put him on halt and he turned at her as this is the cue for him that she feels for him but too late.

intro #2

by indi52

Sixth of June. Once upon a time this was an ordinary date. Another day in the calendar. Sometimes you didn't even notice it passing by. Then an elderly lady came bustling out at Gomti Sadan and bellowed, "Hai re, Nandkissore!", a lissome young girl ran out of her home wearing a lovely green and pink lehenga with white sneakers, a pearl dori on her fine straight back, and the sound of helicopter could be heard up there in the wide blue Lucknow sky.

Suddenly, just like that, sixth of June stopped being an ordinary date.
Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? had landed in our lives.

"Arnav Singh Raizada ka nishana kabhi nahin choogta!" Tell me you didn't hear that line in your head just now; a husky voice, slightly brutal. Or maybe you felt the whisper of a young innocent sound, "woh kya hai ki, aaj school mein drama competition (pronounced: kumpetishun) hai na issliye hum ghar se hi taiyaar hoke jaa rahe hain... rajkumari ki tarah..."

Rajkumari... princess. How prettily she sat on her scooter. But like the boy looking at her inquisitively did we wonder, so where is her rajkumar, the prince?

Or maybe even before we could think that, she had looked up thanks to that particularvibe, some call it mehsoos, that was only theirs? The girl on the ground, Khushi Kumari Gupta and the man flying in, Arnav Singh Raizada.

By the end of that first day's episode the two had met. And it was instantly clear that nothing would be the same again. And delightfully, utterly, unbelievably, nothing ever was.

Welcome to the 4th Anniversary celebrations of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? There never has been a show like this and chances and DM clearly suggest, there never again will be.

Have we ever seen pyaar like this before? Or for that matter, nafrat? Has a jodi ever had such chemistry? Or that sexy scintillating touch of intelligent comedy? Beautiful relationships and familial ties, pet goat, the creepiest villain on the face of the earth, OP, HP, JP, Hello Hi Bye Bye, gust of wind, jalebi, stars, Hamesha, Vishwas, Rabba Ve, even SUV and MU... there was no end to the extra ordinariness of this show.

It pulled us in, it kept us in a state of excitement and joy, weekends became things not to look forward to. Because IPKKND aired only weekdays. All around the world, we were glued to the TV and then frenziedly hitting replay on Youtube. Ah, thosedays...

Then one fine day, just a year and a half later, at 398 episodes, Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? ended. We were sad, we were upset, we felt lost and bereft... for IPKKND was far more than just a soap, it was a dear and cherished part of our lives... how would we survive without the Sanka and the Gussa and the Shut up, Khushi! and the Aap Shut up.

Yet we did. And happily too. Because the show may have ended, but our love is forHamesha.

Around the world again ASR and Khushi beguile and mesmerise... in Russia, in Egypt, in Syria, in Turkey, and in many parts of India... in dubbed versions, in subtitled versions...

and in our dil and dimaag, samjhi tum!

We'd like to thank everyone who made Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? the most fabulous show on earth: Gul Khan, Nissar Parvez, Maan Singh, 4Lions Productions, Star Plus, Lalit Mohan, Arshad Khan, Ved Raj, Sudhir Kumar, Gautam Hegde, Janaki V, Hitesh Kewaliya, The Team of Writers, Raju Singh, Hrishikesh Gandhi, The Creative Directors, Editors, and the Entire Unit, Jayashree T, Daljeet Bhanot, Abhaas Mehta, Akshay Dogra, Deepali Pansare, Utkasrsha Naik, Abha Parmar, Piyumori Mehta, Sanjay Batra, Rajesh Jais, Sana Khan, Karan Goddwani, Swati Chitnis, Madhura Naik, the actors who played Happy Ji, Bedi Ji, OP, HP, JP, Lallan, Rocky, Mohan, Banwari Dhobi, and the invisble Aman;

Last and absolutely the most, the two people without whom
Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? would not have been what it is...

Arhi dance on IPK music

The music had a lilt to it... a trippy traipsy feel. Jo Pehle Hua Na Ab Hone Laga Hai... what hasn't happened before has started happening now.
And what was happening before our rapt eyes and Shyam's horrified gaze was an intense tango... of Nafrat Paas Aane Na De Mohabbat Door Jaane Na De.

Nani and Di along with Mami and Mama ji had played a lovely family charade. Dilli mein Bali. If ASR and Khushi and Akash and Payal couldn't go to Bali for their honeymoon, no problem, Bali would come to Shantivan. And there, before all else, especially the snaky Shyam, a man in brown with a lock of hair breaking the gel rule and falling over his forehead, staked his claim over his slightly confused and hurting, totally beautiful wife.

Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani gave us a thrilling tango... gaze, embrace, rage, and love in it. Its passion was spiked by hate and a desperate need. Every throw, catch, pull, turn, twirl and lift spoke of possession, haq. Sheer gorgeous haq.

Jo Mere Dil Ke Paas Hai
Naye Jaadu Naye Ehsaas Hain

Hoye Aise Mein Kya Karun
Kya Karun Tu Hi Bata
Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon

Arhi Dhaga scene

Di handed her a thread and needle and said she must sew on his shirt button. ASR couldn't protest, nor Khushi. But when Di left, he stayed her hand and said curtly, "Di ja chuki hai, drama karne ki koi zaroorat nahin hai!" Di has left, stop the drama.

The needle pierced her finger just then, and he couldn't hide his feelings... "Khushi! ... Sorry!"

A moment of only pain, only longing passed.

Then in a downcast voice her reply that brought a stunning poignancy to their story... "dhaga hume zabardasti thamna pada... hamari marzi nahin thi... lekin ab jab bandh liya hai toh..." the sentenced didn't have to be completed.

She'd had to hold that string ...she hadn't wanted to... but now that it had been tied. Yes, Khushi was a girl like that. She believed in the sanctity of relationship. She had been forced to marry him, but now that it was done... she'd do everything to keep it intact, not let it get ripped asunder.

Oh, love has such a way of going beyond the rules and norms set by us.

He couldn't say anything, just watch her as she completed her task, then leaned over, right close to his heart and snapped the thread with her teeth. A poised ballet like grace to the whole scene, every movement.

Kyon Dard Hai Itna had to rise and rend the air.

ArHi Separation Track

What would you do if the one you loved the most on this earth were taken away from you? You had no idea where they'd gone... no idea if they were safe or not. How would you live? How would you calm yourself and think straight?

What would you do if the one you loved so much you couldn't live without her and yet you'd hurt her like perhaps no one else ever had, were far far away, beyond your reach? While you were tied and gagged and bound, no idea if you'd live to see her again.

It was in this dark hopeless hour that beautiful clarity perhaps came.
She yearned for him and in the most beautiful soliloquy ever spoken by a soulful lover, she understood the meaning of her nafrat. She understood what it really was.

Kuch rishte ajeeb hi dor mein bandhe hote hai...
And he finally was ready to acknowledge, nothing else mattered... only she...
Khushi... Khushi... ro mat... Khushi, I love you.

It's said Barun's going away to shoot a film brought on this Separation Track. Well, he was never really gone, often shooting double shifts. And necessity led to fascinating invention that only Arnav and Khushi could portray with such beauty. Remember Khushi, I love you, Aoge Jab Tum Balma, a pompom in Arnav's palm, a dream of Khushi, Teri Meri, telepathy, first hug, second hug, hut scene, This is not FUNNY!

Some Separations are just unforgettable.
