He's been playing an investigating officer on Sony's CID for the past seven years now but Aditya Srivastava shows no signs of boredom. "That's because I have a great group of talented actors to work with, who're thorough professionals," he says. According to Aditya, the fact that there's a new story in every episode with new locations to work at, makes it even more interesting. Then he reveals, "I had initially agreed to do 26 episodes of the show and see how they work out." Well, they seem to have worked out pretty well!
But not many might be aware that apart from CID, Aditya's also worked in close to 15 Hindi films, including the critically acclaimed Matrubhoomi, Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Ma and Bandit Queen. Doesn't he feel that he hasn't got due credit for his work in films? "Mujhe pata hai ki meri pehchaan filmon si nahin huyi. But I think I got over some of my identity crisis when I did Satya," he says. Though he agrees that he has not yet done that one role that actors crave for, he's satisfied with the roles he's performed.
And now, Aditya's playing the lead in a film called Dil Se Pooch... Kidhar Jaana Hai. And guess what? He's playing a cop again! "But this cop is very different from the one dimensional cop I portray in CID. This film is a love story between a cop and a prostitute," he informs. Aditya believes that for an actor, a role that gives him enough chance to portray a range of emotions, is something they all look forward to and this, is one of those films. He's also aware that he doesn't have the typical 'hero' looks required for Bollywood films. "I think I'm a common man's actor," he smiles.
