CID Written Update - Pied Piper (15th November, 2014)

Scene 1

We see two guards moving through a forest at night, and we're told they had gotten an anonymous call claiming to have seen an injured leopard in the woods. They hear snarling and growling sounds, and prepare to capture the animal. Suddenly there are gunshots, and trace them to an old abandoned guard office in the thicket. Sounds of a machine gun are heard from within. Afraid, one of them calls the CID.

Scene 2

The CID team led by Daya sir and accompanied by the guards enters the office and finds the corpses of two men near a dining table, with food still served on plates. None of them possess IDs, and an AK-47 and revolver are found on the ground nearby. The nearby wall is plastered with bullets, implying the AK magazine was emptied onto it. Dushyant notes that the forest guards had initially heard three gunshots, whereas these two were shot with one bullet each. The missing bullet is found in a wall and Nikhil notes that there was only one bullet fired from the revolver. Daya sir implies the two victims were having a meal when the killer entered and shot them, but one of them managed to injure him with the revolver bullet which got embedded in the wall. He says the killer could've meant something by firing the AK on the wall. They hear sounds nearby and find a small boy hidden in a cupboard there.

Scene 3

Outside one Mukhi jewelers shop, a hooded and armed man approaches and holds the security guard at gunpoint. The latter says the shop's door can only be opened by the seth's fingerprints. The criminal taunts him and laughs evilly as the door opens all by itself.

Scene 4

In the bureau, we see Freddy sir and Pankaj trying to cheer up the boy they had found, who's sitting quietly. Purvi mam watches from her table. The duo enter and she informs them that the two victims were wanted child smugglers named Bhiku and Ranga. Meanwhile the boy gets upset and requests to be taken to his mom. Duo comfort him and ask him what happened in the guard house. He says the two thugs had imprisoned him there. Then the gunfight began and a third man with a scarred cheek, who was injured in the fight, approached and saw him, but left him alone. Duo request him to get this man sketched. Abhijeet sir receives news of the jewelery store being robbed and guard murdered.

Scene 5

We see Daya sir and others investigating at the Mukhi jewelers shop while the seth sobs over his loss. Dushyant notes the security panel and door are both intact. Daya sir suspects the guard, but the seth says only he knows the password, which he changes every week, and the panel accepts only his fingerprints. He also says he closes the shop only after making sure all the employees have left. Nikhil notes an old AC duct over a cupboard seems to have been tampered with. Inside it they see dragging marks and small hand-prints. However, the duct is too small for anyone to move through. Ishita says the CCTV footage is ready to be viewed.

Scene 6

In the CCTV footage, the team sees a small kid emerging from the AC duct, turning on the lights and using a device he had brought along to open the door, before looting the shop. The hooded man enters with the guard held at gunpoint. Daya sir and Dushyant are surprised to see how the culprit used a child to cleanly override the security and loot the shop. Daya sir says they have to capture the culprit before he can use the kid for more crimes, and decides to find out from the black market if the looted valuables were sold there.

Scene 7

Dushyant, Nikhil and Ishita manage to find out the dishonest jewelery shop owner who had bought the stolen valuables. They get him to confess that a local known thief known as Panther, along with a kid, had sold him those goods. He adds Panther had given half the money to the kid, and the kid left soon in an auto waiting for him, while Panther left in another direction. Dushyant arrests him and calls the control room to track down and capture Panther. He asks Nikhil to get CCTV footage from nearby shops so they can get the auto's number.

Scene 8

Daya sir and the others visit a shop outside which we see the vacant auto parked. The shop owner informs that around 12:00 PM, the auto drove up there and the driver and kid with bag entered the shop, made a call from the PCO and left abandoning the auto there. The shop owner got alarmed, so called the police. Daya sir takes the PCO's number.

Scene 9

Daya sir receives a call informing that three calls had been made from the PCO around 12:00 PM, one of them being to the owner of a famous steel company named Ashwin Kumar. They get suspicious of him and decide to meet him.

Scene 10

The team is seen waiting in the car at some place, and Dushyant reveals they found out at Ashwin Kumar's house that he's been kidnapped. Daya sir says the kidnapper will surely come to get the 2 crores of ransom money in the dustbin there. Suddenly, a car hits a cyclist nearby and there's a big commotion there. The team gets out to check and Daya sir says it's all staged, noticing a small boy taking the money from the dustbin. They catch him, and the child starts crying. Daya sir realizes he's innocent.

Scene 11

In the bureau, we see our duo and Freddy sir consoling the badly crying child and promise to help him. Finally, he says he's Rohan from Delhi, and he can't remember anything else. The cops request him to remember so that they can capture and stop the culprit. Rohan recalls that...

(Flashback begins)

...he was playing with his friends in a park when a kulfi seller dressed as a clown came up and started handing out free kulfis to everyone. Noticing Rohan standing quietly nearby, he tempted him with a "special" kulfi and then proceeded to leave. After eating the kulfi, Rohan began feeling dizzy and bizarre, and compelled to go after the kulfi seller to ask for more. He soon collapsed and was captured by the phony seller.

The scene shifts to a room where several helpless kids are being brutally taught by thugs to become beggars, kept starving until they do as told. When Rohan boldly starts protesting, the boss gets impressed and says that he needs a kid like him for some dangerous task. Rohan pleads to be sent home, but the boss (aka the phony kulfi guy) threatens to murder his family unless he agrees to do as told. We're then shown a sequence where the boss teaches Rohan to move through a stimulation of the AC duct and open a door panel using the electronic device.

(Flashback ends)

Rohan explains that this "Pied Piper" used to train him every day in this manner, and requests the team to save his family. Daya sir reassures him and asks Freddy sir to take care of him. Purvi mam enters with the news that Panther was captured while trying to escape from the city, but was shot in the leg during the fight and has been taken to the hospital. Abhijeet sir says they'll find out more details from him.

Scene 12

At the kidnapper's hideout we see the poor kids starving and being mentally and physically tortured by the goons. The "Pied Piper" says they'll get only enough food to be alive, and expresses desire to kidnap more children to add to his ranks.

Scene 13

We see duo, Freddy sir, Purvi mam and Pankaj in the bureau with Panther, who starts lying that Rohan helps them in the crimes out of his own will. After some threats, he confesses that the boss named Mohan kidnaps children using kulfi spiked with chemicals, and then supplies the children to thieves like to him to help with crimes. He adds he doesn't know where Mohan is, but they inform some dhaba guy if they need more children to help and thus he could be knowing it. Abhijeet sir demands where this dhaba is.

Scene 14

Freddy sir and Pankaj in disguise visit the dhaba in question, and ask the owner to be taken to Mohan, suggesting they're thieves too. He takes them aside and gets them attacked by some accomplices, but the rest of the team turns up in time to save them and capture the crooks. After being threatened by Daya sir, the dhaba guy confesses they'll find Mohan in a certain godown, meeting a new client.

Scene 15

The team infiltrates the godown, and Daya sir warns them not to open fire as there could be kids there. We see the scarred man who had been seen at the guard house, moving armed. He manages to hold Pankaj at gunpoint and demands where the kids are, as they had discussed at the dhaba. But the team turns up to seize him. He reveals that he's one Chetan and he's been looking for his son whom Mohan had kidnapped 2 months ago. There are sounds of a car pulling up outside, and we see Mohan entering. Daya sir instructs Chetan to do as planned and not reveal his identity to Mohan. He also confiscates Chetan's gun as he doesn't want him to commit murder. The cops hide in wait.

Mohan and Chetan meet up, and Chetan demands the child in exchange for money. The child turns out to be Chetan's own son, who rushes at his father. Mohan realizes Chetan's treachery, and draws his gun to kill both of them. Just as he fires, Daya sir jumps in the line of fire while Purvi mam pulls the child out of harm's way. There's a heavy fight, and Mohan and his accomplices are defeated by Chetan and the CID team. Daya sir hands Mohan a tight slap. Mohan confesses kidnapping children and using them for crimes. Daya sir says he'll be severely punished.

Scene 16

There's a sweet scene in the bureau of all the children reuinited with their parents, who thank the CID team for their help. Our trio suggest the parents to keep a closer look on their kids, and encourage the children to be brave. Chetan surrenders himself to the law, as he too committed crimes while looking for his child. ACP sir points out that he did do good as well - its revealed that after Chetan found the child in the guard house, he knew he had to do something for his sake. Therefore he emptied the AK-47 on the wall to attract attention of the guards. However, ACP sir says he'll have to face action for taking the law in his hands by killing the two child smugglers.
