No women, no try
Sony TV and Fireworks (producer of CID) had launched a nationwide hunt for actors to incorporate them as cops in CID's investigating team. Several weeks after the launch, the channel and the producers are aghast at not finding any suitable female contestant to qualify as a cop.
Yash Patnaik, business head, Fireworks says, "Both men and women across all ages have responded to our invitation. Although we have been able to short-list five contestants among men, we are yet to find five women finalists. Somehow the women contestants are not matching up to the criteria that the judges have set. So they (the judges) have decided to introduce another round of inviting more women contestants."
Incidentally, in nine years of CID, the male actors have remained an integral part of the serial unlike the female actors who were replaced very often. The serial had names like Ashwini Kalsekar, Sai Deodhar, Amita Chandekar and even Kavita Kaushik on board as female cops. But none of them could make an impact like their male counterparts like Shivaji Satam, Dayanand Shetty and Dinesh Fadnis.
