As you may be aware, Ramadan has to come an end and to celebrate the end of Ramadan there is Eid-Ul-Fitr. However, in the islamic calendars there are 2 Eid's in one year- Eid-Al-Adha and Eid-Ul-Fitr! Eid-Ul-Fitr, is to celebrate the end of the 29-30 days of dawn-to-sunset fasting during the entire month of Ramadan. The day of Eid therefore falls on the first day of Shawwal. This is the day where Muslims around the globe celebrate Eid. The exact day of Eid varies by your locality, however most countries generally celebrate on the same day as Saudi Arabia.
Eid-Ul-Fitr has a special Salat (islamic prayer) consisting of two rakats and are generally prayed in a mosque where there are a large amount of people, about 20 times more than a normal prayer. After praying the prayer, muslims embrace each other and everyone is forgiven on this day. Relatives and friends meet up and spend time together and Children are given money (also known as Eidi) from parents, elder siblings, grandparents and any other relatives!
Muslims are supposed to donate on behalf of their families to the needy or poor before the Eid day, normally they would donate meat or food for the family. This allows everyone to enjoy the day of Eid. Families will get together and enjoy the Eid dinner.
