The CID team in Rajasthan

ACP Pradyuman (Shivaji Satam), of the Friday night thriller series CID on Sony, has a tough case to crack in the coming weeks.

This time, the culprit takes him all the way to Rajasthan and the rising temperatures in the desert only add to the high-voltage drama.

"We had conceived this special series set in Jodhpur and Jaisalmer as part of our seventh anniversary celebrations of the show," says producer-director B P Singh, "and finally we did manage to shoot in the desert and the sand dunes as planned."

This four-part special of CID has ACP Pradyuman on the hunt for a rice engraver. "The clue is a bag of rice found at Jodhpur railway station which leads the ACP and his team to Jaisalmer. One of the rice grains has a picture engraving.

The chase for the rice engravers takes them atop camel rides in the blazing sun of Jaisalmer to high-action chases amidst the typical flat-roofed houses as well as to the famed Meheran Fort," adds Singh, whose name is synonymous with the thriller genre on the small screen.

Besides Satam, Manav Gohil and Dayanand Shetty and other members of the cast were present for the 12-day shoot schedule.

"It was tough shooting in the desert at this time of the year. Also, several of the cast members were down due to sickness," adds Singh, who is also the brain behind Special Bureau and Aahat II on Sony and Raat Hone Ko Hai on SaharaOne.

Incidentally, as part of its seventh anniversary celebrations, CID had made a crossover into the bi-weekly Special Bureau last month.

Kerala calling for ACP Pradyuman

The next outdoor series of CID is slated to unfold in the backwaters of Kerala.

"We have already done a location hunt and zeroed on in certain locations," says producer B P Singh. "It will have ACP Pradyuman (Shivaji Satam) in boat chases amidst the coconut groves."
