I have another puzzle for you to solve.
This is a long one with many characters. This is a bit similar to 'Case of the impossible murder' (the one where Abhijeet puts the gun into Daya's mouth).
1. Pritam is a music director. He has a sound-proof studio in the compound of his bungalow.
2. He wanted to discuss the songs of an upcoming movie with his singers. So he had invited Alka, Kishore and Sonu to his house for lunch on a Sunday. The invitees also included Pritam's manager Sheila - and Dr Kapoor who had arrived before the 3 singers.
3. Dr Kapoor had operated on Pritam's finger...which was injured in an accident, because of which he was unable to play the piano for a few months which hampered his ability to compose music.
4. When the singers arrived, Pritam was in his studio. He had a sudden inspiration to compose a tune. Everyone decided to wait.
5. Kishore was a bit angry with Pritam as Pritam had given more number of songs (the better ones) to the upcoming singer Sonu.
6. Alka was good friends with Pritam's wife Mona. Therefore Alka started helping Mona serve snacks and cool drinks to the guests.
7. They heard the sound of Pritam's piano playing a melodious tune. Dr Kapoor said 'Nice to know that Pritam is able to play the piano properly now. I think he has forgotten to lock the door'.
8 After some time, the music from the Piano stopped and there was a sudden tune of Kolaveri which surprised the guests for a moment. Alka said 'that's my phone's ringtone' and ran up to the first floor where she had left her phone near a window. As soon as she reached the phone, the ringing ceased and she saw it was an unknown number. From the window there she could clearly see the studio and its entrance.
9. Suddenly there was a gunshot. Akla wondered if it was from the shed. She scanned the area around the shed. There was no one. Then she saw the other guests rushing towards the shed. She grabbed her mobile and rushed down.
10. In the shed the body of Pritam was found. There was a bullet wound right through his temple.
As usual CID team arrives and starts questioning the people. These are the replies they got from each of them.
1. Kishore: Pritam once dropped me at my house. I was a bit drunk that day so shut the car's door on his fingers and this caused the injury. He knew it was an accident and never blamed me for it.
2. Mona: After the accident he was feeling a bit depressed and insecure. He started keeping his gun in the studio. He occsasionally talked about divorce too.
3. Dr Kapoor: I operated his finger but it was never like before. He couldn't play the piano the way he used to before.
4. Sonu: Alka made sure no one touched the body. There was the gun in his right hand and he seemed to have shot himself. (Salunkhe found gun powder on Pritam's hands)
5. Sheila: He never cared about his money before the accident, but of late he was reviewing everything and wanted every minute detail. I had come here today morning to go over all the paperwork.
6. ACP noticed a large stereo system in the studio. Mona said that Pritam would often record his practice sessions there, so that any new tune he composed spontaneously would not 'slip away'. He also found Pritam's mobile in the studio. Alka had made sure nothing was touched before CID team arrived.
7. Alka confirmed that between the gunshot and the other guests reaching the studio, no one had left the studio.
Ab batayiye...khooni kaun? And khoon kaise hua? Was it a suicide?
