Another option is a split personality disordar caused by head injury, but this seems unlikely. In a split personality also the other personality is a suppressed part of the mind which comes to forefront when there is a trigger.

But the thought of a criminal mind in deapths of Abhijit's consious is unthinkable

That's the whole problem with FW. Why show such a scene at all? In the end, they'll say it was a naatak to catch a criminal, pouring cold water on those lovely scenes and wonderful acting by our duo.
