Manav Gohil is Out Of CID

Gohil is out of CID, the Balaji camp, and on the verge of ending his Fame Gurukul stint. The reclusive and low-profile actor tells Reena Thapar Kapoor he'll go where the money is…

What made you walk out of the long-running CID?
I'm committed to Fame Gurukul and was unable to give CID the dates that were required. Yet we tried and struggled for some time. Soon, I realised that I wasn't doing justice to my character in the show. That's when I made up my mind that it's better to call it off. Acting is a creative job and you can't do it half-heartedly. So, to put the record straight, yes I have quit CID.

How was the parting between you and BP Singh, the director of the show?
We parted amicably. Thankfully, there was no bad blood between us. In fact, it was Mr. Singh who initiated the entire discussion. I don't blame him because as the producer/director of the show he realised that my absence in the show was being noticed. That's when the Sony guys intervened and helped us sort out the matter.

You are no longer doing CID. and Fame Gurukul is winding up as well. What next?
I'm getting offers from respectable banners and channels. But at this point, I don't want to take up anything that I don't believe in. Today, when I sign a show I look for content. The script and my character have to excite me. Also, it has to make me happy in terms of money. I'm past the stage in my career when I happily did two- bit roles. I've become very selfish and I think about how I'll benefit from something that I've taken up.

You did loads of saas-bahu soaps at the onset of your career. Are you still open to them?
I am not too sure about this; these soaps may not be able to woo me in terms of creativity. The only way for them to catch my attention would be money! If I'm getting a whopping amount of money, then maybe I'll take them up.

Mandira Bedi is called Sony's lucky mascot. Did you feel sidelined working with her?
Mandira has been hosting shows for a long time now. Of course she gets more importance on the show! But, I certainly have no problem with that. I understand that Mandira fetches more response from the audience. Being new to hosting, I'll not deny that initially I had to struggle a lot to learn how to host a reality show.

You walked out of the Balaji camp quite abruptly...What went wrong between you and Ekta Kapoor?
I've done four Balaji shows - Kasautii Zindagi Kay, Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, Kkusum, and Kahani Teri Meri.
I enjoyed being a part of them. But, after a point I started stagnating and that is scary for an actor

Oh I just thought he was back this week to be again out. Thats sad but I think they will soon find a replacement.

So so Shweta is going to be alone ?

Sweta is in CID SB while Manav was in CID.So they were working with different teams and stories.

yeah I know and after that update is when this article came out. I think this is his last. Anyway there are so many people and maybe we can expect another star to join.
