Many many of the radev scenes that touched me were the ones filled with pain, with their longing for each other, and the love for each other that they sacrificed for the sake of their families.
The first episode that I saw was when Dev was in the mela with a payal in his hand, trying to look for Rads and Rads standing around with Nandu and her long long hair open. I was hooked! But it wasn't until later that I started watching the show regularly.
But there were some scenes that touched my heart more so than others.
~ One scene that will remain in my heart forever is the scene when Devki spots Radhika and Dev at the kund after Radhika jumps in the water trying to hide from Vishaka and Dev.
Later that night Radhika tries to talk to Devki and Devki completely ignores her. Radhika knows something is wrong but doesn't understand why her mother is treating her so. She tries to massage Devki's legs but Devki pulls away from her. Radhika distraught asks Devki " tell me maa what is the matter please tell me".
My heart just broke at that scene. I have two daughters, and that night with tears in my eyes I vowed I would never treat my children as if they didn't matter.
~Then another scene where maybe I truly fell in love with Dev's character was when Radhika was so excited to go to the Phool Bangla and then Amma in front of everyone says something to the effect that "No Radhika can't go to a temple or do pumas because she belongs to a lower caste".
And Dev tells Amma that "as far as I know Radhika has already sat for a puja (referring to the RP puja) and that Society lives for us and we do not live for the society" That probably was one of my favorite dialogues in the show. Dev's character was shining like the sun at that moment. I loved his strength, his defiance, his need to protect Radhika.
~Another scene that seared my soul was during the second wedding rituals when Vaishali refused to do some ritual and send her blessings to Radhika, because of the Varnasankar issue.
Both Dadi and Dev was trying to put some sense into Vaishali's head. Finally Dadi pulls Dev along and says if 'she cannot do the ritual I will stand in place of your mother and do it'. As Dev walks out of the room he turns back and looks at Vaishali beseechingly, his eyes full of hurt and a desperate need for her approval of his love for Radhika.
I have so many more that I will remember forever especially scenes involving Radhika and Shastri ji and Dev and Shastri ji and so on, but that could take me forever to write down.
How beautifully these emotions and dilemmas were portrayed by all the actors on the show. Of course and I can never forget Dev's bare chest. 😳
