from malaysia to today....CB....an analysis

I have been thinking....was Shantanus character really needed in this story?

From the honeymoon episode to today......there has been one development.......growth in Radhikas character. I have written before that Shantanu has been used to push Radhika to cross her boundaries and to grow stronger.........
1) Shantanu gave the divorce pares to Vishaka on the basis of which she and amma created the racket in PB........Radhika warned them that she will tell the truth and amma again emotionally blackmailed her regarding babuji and she backtracked.
2) Vishaka got dadima arrested and then demanded ONS...Radhika and Dev initially said yes.......or Radhika said yes.......Radhika had the conversation with Kanha and realised her mistake.......both Radhika and Dev ONS....and Radhika tells the truth........so she was pushed into corner and she fought back for Dev.
3) Again stuck to the truth in front of amma ..........who went ranting. Radhika was not that strong so needed Devs support.
4) Truth outed by Devki under pressure from babuji and they all leave..........or run and Vishaka thrown out.
5)Then the stupid mother India episode.
6) Shantanu again in Vrindavan and instigates babujis lynching.......followed by Devs......Radhika again stands up......this time with Devs silent support......
7) Shanatanus entrance in PB via this plot.
8) weird reception in PB......then Shantanu masterminds Devs accident....sindoor episode....Radhika fights back alone and walks off.
9) Challenged by Shantanu......Radhika accepts the challenge and proves that he is a bad coin........so she is strong and independent now.

But was Shantanu required to do all this? Could others have done this.......lets see how?

1) Vivek receives the rejected divorce papers which lands in Mrinalinis hands who gives it to Vishaka.......on the basis of which she and amma creates racket in PB........Radhika warns them that she will tell the truth and amma again emotionally blackmails her regarding babuji and she backtracks.
2) Vishaka gets dadima arrested and then lawyer says only legal wife can stay not Radhika.......so she has to leave........Dev completely broken and does not know what to do....Radhika torn and then Kanhas conversation that her silence in destroying Dev. .....realises her mistake.......and Radhika tells the truth........so she was pushed into corner and she fought back for Dev.
3) Told Dev first.......followed by confrontation scene ............could have been dragged here....Dev angry with her but supports her in front of others.
4) Again stuck to the truth in front of amma ..........who went ranting. Radhika not that strong so needs Devs support.
5) Truth outed by Devki under pressure from babuji ......who realises what his mother and wife were upto ........showdown between babuji and devki in PB or Vrindavan........Vishaka leaves.
6) Radhika asked to do a penance........she does it for Dev...so that no one can question him for her mistakes.....Dev understand Radhikas pressure in Vrindavan......keeps quiet for the time being.
7) People in Vrindavan get to know about this............they call a sabha........where amma on baby rant......no lynching sabha..........Radhika again stands up......this time with Devs silent support......then finds Vikram and with the help of Purohit name, frees him and brings him to Vrindavan......Devs name cleared.
8) Arjuna and chachoo getting irritated.....Mrinu loosing patience and without telling chachoo arranges for an accident for Dev.........no beating while hanging.......simple accident...
9) Police not sure... Mrinu forms an alliance with Mahant and they apply pressure to declare Dev dead......Radhika fights back on her own......can include sindoor removal.......but no woodpecking and cutting hair......she again falls and injures her head.....again she fights.
10) Police comes and says the 5 or 7 years wait..........Chachoo gets to know what mrinu has done...becomes furious with her for hasty decision........
11) The trust people come and say that Radhika can stand in but since the RP is not there they cannot stay in the PB which is trust property...........so they leave and decide to stay in one of Devs houses that is now under Radhikas name...

So was Shantanu needed.........no....
was ONS needed ..........no
was lynching needed..........no
was burning of doll needed...........no
was regressive widow rites needed........no
was donating baby for superstition needed ..............no.

So Hiten was brought in to increase TRPs..............with no screenplay..dialogues............ and inconsistencis..........nobody can raise TRPS by themselves.

misti i agree with u on all ur point.. If the CV's would have followed the way u have written they would not have been in such doldrums presently and in addition to this would have saved out the heavy payment which they would have made to Hiten for Shantanu's role.

yes u r right. hiten fans did started 2 watch this show like me but the story was full of loop holes, jumping from one end 2 another, no logic, no proper justification of shantanu's character so after one point even a crazzy fan of hiten like me stopped watching the show.i wish creatives were realy creative n justified his presence on the show. i m happy in a way coz now i can watch sasural genda phool without changing the channel. i really wish he was properly utilised

Shanta thanks for appreciating my grey matter.😉............but this was just common sense which anyone can use once they get to understand what CB is about....its a story about journey.........a journey essentially on one adopted girl who falls in love with this guy..the guy is also madly in love with her.........their union is blessed by Kanha.......and it is this light and faith that guides this young couple...its the interaction of this young couple with the other family members and the various other members on society..........its not about burning, lynching, ONS and all the crap.

I felt so disgusted with last 3 days' lack of logic that I have nothing else to write. Only thing I can say is that your analysis is right on target. I don't think the creatives have learnt their lesson. Who is writing the script these days? Are the producers writing it or zee TV heads are writing it. They seem to not care that their story is totally contrary to whatever they showed last year. They write as if each episode is a stand alone and can be twisted accordingly.

Your last sentence stood up for me....their story changes from episode to episode........but they won't understand that the only way to recover is to get good writers who can write a gripping screenplay.......good dialogues.............maintain the consistency........getting more cast will not solve their problem.

Nafy_GHT you were not the only one scratching your head............there are lot of fans of CB like me who were also scratching their head trying to understand what or who is Shantanu.....they ping ponged his character such a lot....from SRK type to grey character and then again negative that I got completely confused and at the end stopped paying attention to him. They had a very good track in their hand regarding Shantanu and Radhikas battle..........both had very good negative chemistry and they could have used them....but the creatives changed the entire story of CB to include him in the script.........as a result as you have said they could not justify his presence in the story to me....infact I got irritated at the creatives because my CB was going away. I also wish that Hiten was properly utilised and hope that he gets good offers in future.

Even if they would have not followed all ur plans of Shastri ji's lynching, Visakha's ONS etc they could have easily avoided Shantanu with no much effort.

1) PF could have received the unfinished divorce papers just when they would be throwing Visakha out of their house, and as she got the power in her hands they could have gone the same way as they had shown.

2) Shastri ji's lynching gets done as Babu ji, Devki and Amma has a conversation and one of the villagers overhears it and then the word spread like wild fire, then all those scenes which the CV's had shown.

3) Radhika comes to know of Vikram thru Purab and finds him in the jail, gets his bail done and asks him to support her in the Sabha and prove her husband innocent, Vikram denies as he wants to take revenge on her for putting him behind the bars, she somehow manages to persuade him and Dev is saved.

4) Dev's murder as told by you. We can also include Arjun as he is being shown a bit desperate these days to sith on the RP seat.

Abhilasha I am sure there are various other ways that this story could have been dealt with in the past few months...........even your suggestions were good and would have worked. Unfortunately it seems that we know the characters more than the creatives themselves.
