Srcharan, don't type in all caps, the mods will immdiately delete your post and give you a warning. Typing in all caps is not allowed. I know you're upset with the show but all caps is akin to yelling and that is not allowed. Just letting you know.

All of my friends in India are working.........some live in Mumbai, some in Delhi and a couple in Kolkata.............and none watch any tv serial...........they don't have time........some are married with kids and some don't have kids.........if they watch tv they watch current affairs programmes, news, animal planet/national geography or sports channel...........if they have time then they glance through whatever serial is there on their laptops and curse and grumble all the time.

Now my family.............the ones in Kolkata only watch bengali serials.......not because the bengali serial are better but because of the language problem. Just to check them out I also watched them...........full of melodrama......But my mother and aunts don't obsess about these serials....they watch them when they have time and are also quite happy to skip them because the story does not move. My parents maid was a great fan of CB last year.........I remember her watching the repeats also religeously but this time she did not watch CB, so I asked her.....her reply was CB is boring.......the bengali word she used was "ghenghene" which means nagging.........Radhika is always crying, amma is always shouting, Vishaka is always after something and the rest are always quiet..........thats whatshe told me

Its all in circles for these bunch of creatives.............and they have realised that amma and vishaka works for them...........people hate them so much that they are always being discussed........so they will always generate interest.............if people ignore these two characters then the creatives response might be different.

Mishti, I understand the points you are making. My voice or my opinion has not relevence with the Creatives. I wonder why they use terms like Vrindavan, Raj Purohit and Shashtriji. Some of us living abroad crave for the good old days when life was pure and simple.

Nice post ... I have suffered from CB viewer fatigue since the day it began ... would take a few days break and come back to it. It is the only show though that I have come back to and watched continuously and may watch till it ends.

After a while though, it became easier to watch bcos I knew that no matter what happened, raDev would always come out better and stronger. I also enjoy the older shows now much more than I did at that time bcos I now know the outcome.

The track that really caused me to question whether I should leave CB permanently was ONS. If something beyond what they showed had happened ... if Dev had not said no but allowed himself to be pawed by Vish and Rads had come in at the last minute to rescue him ... CB would not have been the same for me.

As far as the current track is concerned, I don't know where they are going with this but for Rads to be fully forgiven by PB, they have to show all of the torture she put up with and the insecurities she had to face (Shastriji possibly having a heartattack, Devki against her, etc). I personally would like all the truths to come out before the truth of the first marriage is publicly acknowledged and verified. It is going to be really ugly bcos what happened was ugly.

If it is confirmed that Rads married Dev the first time around too early, Vish could always play the "i was pregnant with dev's child" and since she had a miscarriage that would take a few weeks to prove while we agonize over it. How can they prove that he never consummated his relationship with her?

As much as I hate to see Vish/Amma ... raDev need to learn that some hard facts about people they protect, lies that they have said to cover up for others , etc ...

Having said that , can the creatives pay more attention to the show, editing, writing, dialogues, etc ... I think they can and should.

As far as audience in India is concerned, I think all these shows are mainly targeted at the rural audience. The younger people I know watch CSI and American channels, the more middle aged ones do watch soaps but channel surf and watch a lot of soaps at the same time. So if there is a lot of drama it catches their attention

Rajsri, I have held on to hope against all negatives but the time has come when optimism has disappeared. We have all at some point or the other given life to these fictional characters and our logic has not worked. Right now Dev and Radhika look so dumb to me (please, I hate writing this!) that I cannot fathom watching any more of them or any of my other favorite characters being made to look stupid!
Yes, ugly happened but the same ugly was handled so beautifully once upon a time, melodrama and all. This show has reached a point where none of the beauty can be reestablished. Their coining this as a chakravyuh diminishes the original Abhimanyu story of the Mahabhaarat.

Oh my gosh, what are the CVs doing to this show??? It's getting beyond ridiculous!
Where is Shantanu? I would much rather see him than the two sicko witches!

Thanks, Sandeepa. My question too. I don't mind the 2 witches, as everyone calls them. They are just doing a show. It is the staleness that is presented day after day. There is no variety from the start of the week to the end of the week. Personally I don't care whether Shahstriji has dil ka daura or doesn't , PF believes Radhika or Vishakha/Amma, Devki can stay on her tirth yatra or return.
[Sorry Sandeepa, that was my viewer fatigue talking! ]

All the suffering that Radhika has endured is so trivialized now with the daily nautanki, even I have started to feel why couldn't Radhika suffer just a little more instead of the Creatives making me suffer daily!
Today there is a clip about Babuji having a heart attack. It may be a dream sequence or he really does. I don't care. The bottom line is that the Creatives have disregarded an important negative outcome of broadcasting for the sake of their ratings - viewer fatigue.
A while back watching Oscars, some smartpants critic on TV had mentioned viewer fatigue and the word stayed with me. It was also mentioned when the world was facing one natural or man-made disaster after another and there was always some charity event seeking donations from viewers on TV.
Today I came across an article on the internet that explained viewer fatigue really well and have pointers for people in programming and adverisements. Here is the link:
When I read it, I had an AHA! moment.
Do you think the Creatives identify themselves in this article? I certainly did!

gardes,
I am yet to watch the video clip of Shastriji's heart attack.
Thanks for the article. Yes, it definitely applies to the DJ creatives, for that matter anyone in the creative field. It applies to not just people who create advertisement or programming, but from discussion forums like IF, as I get something called 'Forum Fatigue' 😆, which is almost similar to viewer fatigue.
I feel that we all give more importance to these people's rubbish creativity by writing so much about them ... sorry that I have to write it here, my intention was not to point it out here, but I am writing it here just bcos we are on that topic and doesn't mean I am pointing out at this thread, I am talking about ALL OF US. But I know we all want to vent sometimes and IF is a place available, so, I completely understand. While I have come to know how to handle my viewer fatigue, I also have come to know how to handle my forum fatigue too.😊

Second the emotional aspect lies in Dev and Radhika............also unfortunately Vishaka and amma. All viewers love Dev and Radhika and will be with them in this fight...............they also hate amma and Vishaka..............the other characters can take sides logically and not haphhazardly................so the viewers will be switching on their screens everyday to see what happens next in this fight.............who wins.........and will all be routing for Dev and Radhika and cursing Vishaka and amma.............TRPs so zeetv and production house happy, Dev and Radhia together and fighting........against the others.........and Radhika making upto Dev when they are by themselves...........will make the viewers happy.

Help of other media source.........SBS/SBB and all the others....they have been doing that pretty well....dropping hints as to what might happen...........showing Vishaka standing next to Dev (irritates the viewers).........to keepthe interest alive

(Just wanted to comment on the highlighted part above)

Mishti, you may already know but its for others -
The production houses have to pay for such air time. Some of them are even scripted by the very same creative team. Just to lighten the mood of the viewers, these are shown. Take for example Vishaka's Daaku Rani act OR the Mango eating OR this Shastriji's heart attack , it clearly shows the production house has complete control on what they want to portray and that is -

* even though Vishaka is shown so evil on the screen, she is not so off-screen. They are trying to tell - Do not hate her so much. She is doing as per the script and nothing else.
* to show what a good time the cast and the crew are having off screen and trying to tell the viewers - PLS CHILL and you guys enjoy the show as you enjoy these video clips too.

Both the reason are so that the viewers are happy and are not put off by seeing what they show in the episodes and move away from their show! And the other reason as you have already mentioned, they may show something where viewers are curious to know more and make them watch their show.

Bee as you have said I do know that most of these SBS and other similar shows are scripted and paid for by the production houses to help the viewers cool down, to show that the actors behind the characters are human beings. Personally I have nothing against Gopi Desai or Priyanka Mishra. They are enacting their roles. Bee you know that to me what actor is playing what does not matter,,..........it is characterisation and screenplay, these are the two most important things that I look for while watching any movie or tv serial.........it doesnot matter how good an actor is in his body of work or whether I like that actor or not. The other things that I look for is editing, direction..........the director is the leader of this ship and lot remains on how he inteprets a scene and explains them to the actors. In CB there is no screenplay.......its the same dialogues being repeated again and again, same scenes being repeated again and again.............no sign of ay logic......this makes me mad. When I make fun of any of the characters in my scripts or writings in the forum, I am actually not making fun the character or actor, I am making fun of the creative writers.........don't care whether they belong to the production house or zee tv..............I usually use humor to show the creative writers how illogical and senseless their plots or characterisation is..............for example Vishaka...........knowing that Radhika has saved her and has always come to her rescue timeand time again, suddenly she forgets all that and starts believing ammas crap.....even a person with no intelligence will not behave like that and they have shown her as a person who is smart.........what nonsense characterisation is this. If the script is not good and cannot hold viewers attention then the serial will not last long..............it does not matter how goodlooking the actor is and it does not matter how good his or her acting is.

Mishti,
I do not see anything wrong in what the production houses are doing. It is their marketing strategy and in some cases they are forced to do such things because people are so angry with the onscreen characters that they start writing letters to the creatives to change a track. How many times can they change a track. People don't like Keshav, People don't like Shantanu, People don't like Vishaka, People don't like Amma. People don't like Chachu, People don't like Mrinalini, People don't like Vaishali. They can write letters telling how amateurish their story, screenplay, dialogue and direction is, but why not give them their freedom to write something. Some of the AviNa/RaDev addicts only want to watch their main leads. How much can one write story only with the main leads in each and every scene? As soon as they bring a new character there is already speculations and letters are written in anticipation that a character would separate the main leads. People here fretting over each negative character is what has landed us with this crap Vishaka storyline is what i think. They don't want to see Shantanu, they write letters, now they tell Shantanu is better than Amma and Vishaka. What are they supposed to do?

Why can't some of us understand what you have already written - give an oppurtunity to tell their story, watch the story, storytelling (screenplay, dialogue, editing, direction) and the performance and then comment and not fret over every character and actor that portrays it. If one does not like it, say so or do something else.

CB story had gone down the drain long time back and they have survived this long only bcos of the main leads. That itself is a sad state. DJs should shut the shop and bow down gracefully and end the crap if they don't have anything good to write/show.

Bee, Mishti, I read your exchange and the points were well made. I would like to add a few thoughts and observations of my own...
This show attracted me and the members of the forum for a reason and its deterioration is not very pallatable to us because we know it has and can be better
The story that this show started with was definitely not amateurish but has turned so, gathering from the opinions expressed daily in the forum; it is not limited to one or two people saying so
As a member of the viewing audience I have the freedom to express my opinion and let my likes and dislikes be known to the Creatives team and Zee TV as I would in any other situation in life; I have done so with airlines, as a consumer using products on the market, etc.
Obviously, the Creatives and Zee TV are running a business and any of the viewing audience (including me) telling them what to do will have no impact on business decisions
It has been a few weeks since we did so and I have yet to see that my or anyone's letter has made a difference in the direction in which the show is heading
After our failed attempts at expressing our collective disgust at the turn the story has taken, all of us will reach a point where we will gladly rid our obsession with watching this show and move on; I don't have a doubt about it
As the fun, the humor, the anticipation have disappeared, I have started the process of weaning myself off this show. I am sure there is more I can do with my time and I hope to move on to better things eventually. My first and last Indian serial that I got hooked on has also been a learning experience.
