Story so far

R: 'Dev aap please phir se us baat ko shuru mat kijiye jise aap ko takleef ho. Apko meri dosti se sirf mushkile he mili hai. Is dosti ko khatma kar dene min he samazh dari ha'

'Aasha' had arrived, and Radhika got down. Radhika turned and was about to leave when Dev called out her name.

D: 'Radhika tum meri dosti tod sakti ho par main hamesha tumhara dost rahoonga'

D: 'Jab bhi tumhe jarorat hogi tum muzhe apnea aas paas paogi'

And Dev drove away with a pained expression, leaving Radhika pensive.

Part 4

Radhika's day was absolutely miserable. She could not concentrate on anything. The events of the morning were playing on her mind. She was replaying her encounter with Dev in the mandir. It was ironic that he met her after his return from the US in the mandir. It reminded her of her meeting him for the first time all those years ago in the same mandir. It was when he had told her that he would be her friend.

She was still lost in her thoughts when a peon interrupted her thoughts, 'Didiji aap ke liye phone hai'

Radhika was surprised. No one called her at 'Aasha' unless and until it was urgent.

She went to attend the ph apprehensively.

R: 'Hello!!'

'Hello Radhika', Dev spoke at the other end.

R: 'DEV!! Aap?'

D: 'Ya, Radhika what is your plan for the evening? I will be free by 5:30. I was wondering you could come for a cup of coffee, say meet you at 6:00?'

Radhika glance at her watch. It was 4:30 pm. It was the time that she left for the day.

R: 'Nahi Dev, main abhi ghar ja rahi hoon. I am sorry, but I can not come'

D: 'U are leaving for Malhotra House?'

R: 'Haan, main bas 5 min main yahaan se niklne wali thi'

R: 'Accha Dev, main ph rakhti hoon'

Radhika picked up her belongings and left in a hurry.

She came out of 'Aasha' and found Dev leaning on the bonnet of his car, arms crossed and smiling at her.

Radhika almost stumbled the moment she saw Dev.

She saw Dev walking towards her smiling from ear to ear.

R: 'Aap? Yahaan?'

D: 'Haan! Tumhe laga kit um mushe avoid kar sakti ho!!'

R: 'Par aap to 5:30 ko free hone wale the?'

D: 'Agar main ese nahi karta to tum itni jaldi bahar kaise aati?'

R: 'Aap ye sab kyoun kar rahe hai?'

D: 'Main tumhe le jane aaya hoon.'

R: 'Main coffee nahi piti'

D: 'Main tumhe ghar le jaane aya hoon. Ghar to chalogi na?'

R: 'Aap ne khama kha tkaleef ki. Main chali jati.'

D: (he was angry this time) 'Main jaanta hoon , tum chali jati. Pichle dus saloon se tum sari chije khod hee karti aa rahi ho. Par main bhe ghar jar aha tha to socha ki tumhe leta chaloo'

R: 'Oh!!'

D: 'chale?'

Dev opened the door to the front seat to let Radhika in.

On the way back Dev asked 'Tum hamara rishra kyoun todna chahati ho?'

R: 'Jo rishta apko chot pahucha chukka hai aaur bhavishya me bhi chot pahucha sakta hai, ap use barkarar kyoun rakhna chahte hai?'

D: 'Radhika tum khud ko dosh dena chod do. Jo kuch bhi hua usme tumhara koi kasoor nahi tha. Aur tum ma ki bato par dhyaan mat do.'

By the time they reached MH it was 5:30pm. As soon as they entered MH, Mrinalini broke the news that Vishakha and her dadi ma were coming to visit them.

Radhika flinched at the mention of dadima's name. She very well knew that dadima had still not forgiven Radhika and still despised her.

Radhika also knew that it was Mrinalini's plan to get Dev married to Vishakha. She was happy for her sister because she knew that Dev was a great guy and would be a perfect husband for her sister. He would go to any heights for the people he loved. HE was very passionate from the very beginning. She knew his passion very well. She had realized that, that passion had not died down a bit, if at all it had grown with him. As for Vishakha, she was good to Radhika. She remembered Vishakha to be kind. But the bond had faded away because dadi wanted Radhika no where near Vishakha and after the accident that was the only reason dadi took Vishakha away.

M: 'Dev beta!!! Jante ho kal subha ke flite se dadima aur Vishakha aa rahe hai. Main chahati hoon kit um unhe air port receive karne jaao'

D: 'Theek hai ma. Main aur Radhika kal airport chale jayenge'

Radhika was surprised at the way Dev got her involved in this and was about to protest.

M: 'Radhika!! Tum Birju ko saath le kar jao. Aur vaise bhe Dadima Radhika ko pasand nahi karti'

D: (very thoughtfully and looking at an uncomfortable Radhika) 'Thik hai, main Birju ko le kar jaoonga'

Radhika was relieved by this and went to her room.

Radhika knew that it will be tough for her from tomorrow, since now dadima would be here and she will have to be extra careful about not enraging her further.

She went to the kitchen to check on the dinner arrangements. She prepared the gajar ka halwa which chachiji wanted to be cooked, it being Dev's favorite sweet dish.

After checking out that the dinner was ready, she asked Birju to call every one for dinner and to serve them. She excused herself saying that she will eat later and went to her room.

She was reading a book when suddenly there was a knock on the door.

She opened the door and found Dev standing wearing a white kurta..

R: 'Aap? Yahan?'

D: 'Haan, voh tum khane par nahi aee. Sab intajaar kar rahe hai.'

R: 'Nahi, voh main baad main khaa loongi'

D: 'Kyoun? Baad main kyoun? Sab ke saath kyoun nahi?'

R: 'Bas vho…'

D: 'Main kuch nahi sunana chahat. Tum abhi mere saath chalo, varna main bhi baad main khana khaaonga, tumhare saath'

The thought of herself alone with Dev was motivating enough for her to nod and follow a smiling Dev to the dining table.

She was reading a book when suddenly there was a knock on the door.

She opened the door and found Dev standing wearing a white kurta..

R: 'Aap? Yahan?'

D: 'Haan, voh tum khane par nahi aee. Sab intajaar kar rahe hai.'

R: 'Nahi, voh main baad main khaa loongi'

D: 'Kyoun? Baad main kyoun? Sab ke saath kyoun nahi?'

R: 'Bas vho…'

D: 'Main kuch nahi sunana chahat. Tum abhi mere saath chalo, varna main bhi baad main khana khaaonga, tumhare saath'

The thought of herself alone with Dev was motivating enough for her to nod and follow a smiling Dev to the dining table.

Part 5

It was almost 5:00 pm and Radhika was about to leave 'Aasha'.

She had a better day because she was able to avoid Dev for the entire day.

Dev had left early to the airport to pick dadima and Vishakha.

And she herself had made it a point to come to 'Aasha' early. It was 8:30am when she came here.

When she was leaving MH, Ramu kaka had come telling her that Dev bhayya had asked her to wait. He would return by 9:00am and would drop her to 'Aasha'.

But Radhika had lied that she needed to leave early.

She was contemplating whether to take an auto or a bus to go home. Suddenly she saw Birju outside 'Aasha'.

B: 'Radhikaji!!, Ayeeye hum aaphi ko lene aye the. Who Dev bhayya ne aapke liye gadi bheji hai.'

R: 'Dev ne?'

B: 'Haan vho to khud aane wale the par vho Vishakhaji ne jid ki ke unhe kuch jarrori kaam that to voh unke saath chale gaye aur jate waqt muzh se keh gaye ki aapko leneke liye gaadi le jaaoo.'

Radhika was happy that Vishakha and Dev were getting to know each other.

She sat in the car and they drove off.

When she reached MH, she saw dadima and Mrinalini having tea. Radhika went straight to dadima to touch her feet.

R: (touching her feet) 'Dadima aap kaisi hain?'

Dadima : 'Is sab ki koi jarurat nahi hai ladki, phele to mere bete abur bahu ko kha gai, aur ab natak karti hai?'

Dadima : 'door ho ja meri najron se'

Radhika was very hurt but left the place and went to the garden which was in the backyard. She went and sat there on the swing and was remembering dadima's words which were hurting her like daggers.

She silently was talking to her kanha 'Kanha, abhi tak dadima ne muzhe maaf nahi kiya hai. Main kya karu kanah jisse unka ghussa shant ho jaye?'

It was about 6:30 pm when Dev came with Vishakha tugging to his arm. Mrinalini and dadima were happy to see this and threw knowing glances towards each other.

Dev freed his arm from Vishakha's and went straight in search of Radhika.

He found her sitting on the swing in the garden. She had her hair open and was lost deep in thoughts.

She was wearing a lemon yellow salwar kameez. He found himself transfixed at that place just looking at her, same as the day of his arrival from US. He had been eager to meet her. He had found her in the mandir. He remembered that she was looking beautifully divine that morning. She had left her hair open. They were wet after a bath. She had walked in mandir and he had watched her from behind the pillar. She had prayed and readied the mandir for the puja. She was looking very beautiful that day.

When she was about to leave only then he had caught her hand and disclosed his presence to her. His hears had missed a beat or two the moment she looked into his eyes.

Even today she was looking beautiful. 'Well she looks beautiful and breath taking on any day' Dev found himself admitting to it.

And suddenly she saw him.

She remembered Mrinalini's words 'Be out of Dev's way, do you understand?'

And now dadima was also here. Radhika knew that it was Mrinalini's and dadima's wish that Dev and Vishakha get married.

Radhika got up from the swing and was about to leave. Dev stopped her with his question 'Why did you not wait for me to return from the airport?' and closed in towards her.

R: 'I was getting late for 'Aasha''.

D: 'You are lying'

R: 'nahi tho' (she lied)

D: 'Tum muzhse zhooth nahi bol sakti Radhika. Na tum muzhse kabhi zhooth bol payee ho aur na hi kabhi bol paoogi.'

R: 'eysa kuch nahi hai'

D: 'Main tumhe achhi tara janta hoon Radhika, aaj nahi bahcpan se!!! Main tumhe, tumse bhi jyada acchi tarah se jaanta hoon.'

R: 'Dev aap kyoun nahi muzhe akela chod dete?'

D: 'Main tumhe dus salon tak akela chod chukka hoon, ab aur nahi'

Radhika looked up at Dev and found pain in his eyes. She was sorry that she had to behave so badly with him, but he was leaving her with no choice. He was not getting it that chachiji and dadima would absolutely blow off the ceiling if they saw Dev and her together.

As if reading her thoughts, Dev said dadima aur ma bahar living room main baithe hain. Tum fikra mat karo, aur agar vho yahaan bhi hote to tumhe fikra karne ki jarurat nahi hai.

Radhika was surprised to know that despite of all these years, Dev knew her so well.

Dev was going to say something when Vishakha came there and said, 'Are Dev tum yahan ho, aur main tumhe sare ghar main dhoond kar aa rahi hoon.'

Vishakha looked at Radhika and went to her.

To Radhika's surprise, Vishakha hugged her and said

V: 'Radhika? Tum Radhika ho na'

R: 'Haan Vishakha!!! Tum nahi janti main kitni khushhoon tumhe dekh kar.'

V: 'main bhi.'

Dev observed that it was for the first time he saw Radhika smiling. She had a beautiful smile, he thought to himself.

V: 'Areee Dev tumhe auntyji bula rahi hai!!

Dev glanced at Radhika and left the two girls talking to each other.

It was 8:30 by the time Radhika went to her room after looking over the dinner preparations.

It was hectic for her so she had a bath and was about to sit for reading a book that she heard a knock at the door,

She was surprised to see Dev standing there.

R: 'Aap?'

D: 'Tum niche aa rahi ho ya hum baad mein sath khana khane wale hain?'

R: 'Nahi Dev, dadima aur chachiji naraj ho jayengi, main nahi aa sakti, ap jaiye, ja kar khana kha leejiye '

D: 'Nahi Radhika, koi tumhe kuch nahi kahega. Chalo mere saath'

Radhika was about to protest that she heard Vishaka coming.

V: 'Aree Dev tum yahaan ho aur main phir se saara ghar dhoond kar aa rahi hoon.'

Both Dev and Radhika look at Vishakha.

V: 'Shayad agli baar muzhe tumhe pure ghar main dhoondne ke bajya Radhika ke pas aa jana chahiye.'

Radhika was shocked by what Vishakha just said.

V: 'Haan kyoun ki muzhe Dev humesha tumhare paas hee milta hai!!!'

Radhika looked at Dev, expecting him to be embarrassed by Vishakha's comment, but instead found him grinning at her comfortably as if Vishakha had stated the fact.
