Here is what I meant when I wrote that "they glorified the wedding".

The wedding was 3 episodes long (3 days). It was very detailed and had a meaningful background song. The significance of the rituals for the bride and the groom came across nice and clear to the audience. That is what I meant by "glorified".

Now, what made the ceremony appalling was the deception. And the Shastri trio could get away with the deception because of the silly superstition (Dev could not see his bride until after the wedding).

It wa never said that bride and groom should not see each other before marriage. Vish was shown Dev's pic. Everyone thought Dev saw Vishaka(as he said that he was in love with her). The mistake here is solely Dev's. After the marriage is fixed, they were not allowed to see each other(which I know some people still practise...) It never looked that bad for me. Just because Rads is suffering, we are looking at it in that angle but it is not something which we should go nuts about.
