Well that's what it looked like to me ...not initially but after the first few days . More than an attack on SRK ,it's an attack on the film industry in general and SRK is like the face of Bollywood. Harass him and send a msg to everybody. They want to attack and polarise every cultural space in the country. Until public discourse is so fcked that you cant figure out what's going on ,even if you have the patience to go through the lies and the rumours and the semi facts that are taken out of context. That's the best way for them to make sure they get another term.
I don't agree with the way Tharoor calls the industry a great example of plurality and all that. Bollywood has contributed too , to this problem by ..say for ex.. showing Muslim characters in a poor light all the time. But yeah..compared to the narrative that has built up outside, it's utopian . And def a space to reckon with regardless. That's what they want to change. They want everybody to be pliable. . And with this case there's this whole thing of amoral rich folks having to be shown their place by the noble chaiwalas , salesgirls and yogis. In a couple of years 'his' braindead supporters would say " And another thing...under his watch Bollywood was cleaned up ..how can you ignore that ? ".
