Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 First Episode Review: Erica Fernandes and Parth Samthaan's Refreshing Chemistry Makes This Reboot Version Worth Watching!

Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 has been one of the much awaited Ekta Kapoor shows and it is finally here. Before I start with my review of the first episode, let me tell you that you must be an ardent fan of this iconic show first or else you might feel a bit misplaced while watching it. For those who have watched the original show, you are in for a nostalgia ride. Coming straight to the protagonists Anurag (Parth Samthaan) and Prerna (Erica Fernandes), they are totally two poles apart. While Anurag is a serious, nerd kind of a person, Prerna is that giggling, unapologetic, dreamy girl. Are these two destined to fall in love? The waving red dupatta falling over them time to time and the beautiful title track playing the background hints so!

In this first episode, we can totally see the difference between the Basu family and Sharma family. While Basus are all about money and class, Sharmas are about values and love. The makers take extra efforts to show the difference between both the mothers where as the fathers go strong with their 10-year-old friendship.

The characters have been introduced through the entire episode but the romantic coincidence between the love birds start with the first episode itself. The chemistry between Parth and Erica looks refreshing and there's a lot that we can expect from them in the upcoming episodes. Speaking of the sets, they are grand and suitable to the serial's plot, giving you the 'Devdas' feels. The costumes are given keeping in the mind the backdrop of Kolkata and are eye-pleasing and glamorous.

Speaking of the background music, the first episode had a bit of a loud music during the 'puja' scenes but the rest of the time, it was impressive. They have also added the original background music during the moments of Anurag and Prerna's interaction which will make you hum along with it. However, when it comes to dialogues, they are quite dramatic and poetic but then that's how Ekta Kapoor likes it with her serials, and probably even her fans.

By far, the episode has managed to pique the curiosity and has a promise of a heartmelting lovestory weaved between the lovebirds. The fans of the original soap are totally going enjoy it. Even though Parth and Prerna look wonderful together, the music is bound to take you back to Shweta Tiwari and Cezanne Khan's time.

Final Verdict

As I said, the show is majorly a nostalgia ride for those who have previously loved the original serial. The casting looks almost perfect for the new-age love story and the chemistry is the plus point of the whole serial. Also, the idea of retaining the original music and the red-dupatta-coincidence, has paid off well. The serial definitely has the potential to keep the audience hooked to it. What are your thoughts?

Get ready to witness the magic of love onscreen, once again!

Since the previous version was a superhit, is Erica nervous about viewers' expectations? After a long pause, she replied, "Not very, but yes a little bit since it is not a new character that I am playing. It's a character that has already been played and established and loved by so many people so to be playing something like that yes, there is nervousness and a little bit of pressure. But at the same time, it's a challenge for me and I really like challenges (smiles).

While interacting, the actress also opened up about the comparison between the old Prerna (Shweta Tiwari) and the new one. "See, obviously comparison is going to happen and I am ready for it. At this moment, all I can say is that I am going to give my best and I am also going to give my own touch to it and it's going to be altogether a different Prerna that I am going to play.

So, did Erica get a chance to meet Shweta Tiwari for the guidance or talk about the new version of the show? "No...not yet! I wish to meet her someday and talk about the show, the former and new Prerna and other things. I hope to meet her soon.

Talking about her chemistry with co-star Parth Samthaan, the actress further added, "See, right now, we haven't reached to that point in terms of chemistry or equation. Otherwise, when it comes to comfort...we have a really very good rapport with each other and so far, the experience of shooting with him was awesome. I have never met him before this show and so I was also looking forward to working with him.

Even I felt they rushed too much. They wanted to show everything in one epi. Atleast collage thing they could have kept for tomorrow. They would get some time for proper interaction between anurag n prerna. Eri looked amazingly beautiful n episode was good. I think eri n parth looked good each other n I liked parth acting today.

Its almost 2 o'clock in here and i cant seem to sleep 😆. So b4 i go to sleep want to put a theory behind prerna's bubbly character. Months ago I read news that EK is bringing khabi khushi khabi ghum story back to tv. The bubbly si girl,anjali who is carefree and fun loving and the overpowering father who cant see his son marrying a person not from his class. All thought its about dil hi tho hai storyline but it was not the case. Today while watching kasautii repeat with my sister ..the way she was describing prerna's character it dawned on me mayb ekta was using karan johar's help in writing the new prerna character. Here too we have a bubbly girl who fall in love with a boy who is so out of her class. amitji's character here is anurag's mother. No wonder EK kept on praising Karan and saying getting inspiration from him.

Judging by the number of articles released praising the lead pair kasautii is already a hit😃

PS: sorry for the lambi analysis. Too much of a coincidence though... food for thought😉
