they have completely fictionalized the show...hence no point in relating it to history...i thought ruqaiyya would be grey ,power hungry but human...they have completely turned her into black and ready to kill salim to be mallika e hind

salima was a poetess and they have turned her into a clown here...but they have already warned us hence no point complaining ...

aruna irani too as akbar's mother is shown as classist..but then that was the norm in monarch hence not complaining ..it is more or less real ...mercifully not another greatest sasumaa of tv...😆

characters have been established and so also the scenario...now the various tracks would move on from here...am liking it ...conspiracies behind the walls ,pretense ,prejudice, love, care everything...what holds the fort is the brilliant casting...

and really liked that elephant riding scene of the kids...salim, a prince and a snob...even hurting her did not shake him but the fact that he did not know how to apologize...

the dialogues are so beautiful and powerful ...

Yes @sun I am also loving it - it's very rare that one comes across such dialogues that really touch your heart- great job 👏
The Mughal harem was indeed a very intriguing place - the actual hotbed of politics so to say- there was
no information that went unnoticed in this part of the Mughal palace. And the constant conspiracies and plans that were hatched here were very complicated and quite extraordinary- there was simply no place for mundane things here. And I am quite liking the way the makers are using this dark side of the Mughal royal life. And of course, accomplished actors are able to translate this into reality quite effortlessly.
There are various accounts of the same incident in history - and the truth behind all the politics of the Mughal harem have been lost with them - we can only imagine and make intelligent guesses- so here there is immense scope for cinematic liberty and I am not disappointed so far. Infact I love the way they are building the stage for the love story to unfold and the mayhem that would ensue.

The show has so far made a history buff like me happy- hoping for even better things in the future

Good morning friends 😊

Good morning friends 😊

so true..and the thing is none of us know the actual stories in the mughal harem...as i said no one wrote a book on it and all the secrets and conspiracies were buried with the queens and her aides...across centuries things have been removed and added in history ..so none can claim it to be the real story ...

and yes even i am loving that they have delved into the dark side of the royal family...harem indeed was a hotbed with so many women vying for the Emperor's attention and power ..we cannot even imagine the conspiracies they would indulge in ...

the thing with auto biographies and biographies are that none have the courage to tell the truth...they write only the stuff they want people to know and remember...historians who visited the royal court would only receive information that the Emperor and his family wants to world to know ..nothing else...it is like a boy coming to meet a girl in her house for the first time..all prim ,proper, well mannered and nice...a facade 😆

Even in Jahanara's case, it was a truth that she got burnt very badly but how it came about no one knows for sure and there have been so many widely different interpretations of that particular incident. I believe, while making historicals, its very important for the director to have his own vision of representing that slice of history with full confidence and conviction as has been the case with Bajirao and Padmavat and we all know how they turned out to be.

I am a total history buff but somehow never watched Jodha Akbar on tv so this is my first brush with a historical on tv - let's see how it goes 😆

Aurangzeb destroyed most of the records and writings of the Mughal era and Hindustan ...his sister was lost in it...only she would know the truth ..rest can presume...

and so true...the director needs the courage and conviction to narrate his story..if you do not have it in you kindly do not mess with history ...even the movie salim did love a courtesan but with so much dignity and class he conducted himself..not even once was he a love sick boy ...even his madness for her and rebel against his father had so much arrogance and pride...so much attention was given into detailing

that is what i liked about this show as well...shruti ulfat is a wonderful actress and her whole body language in the presence of the royal family speaks so well of the detailing and the little kid confused coz this is the first time she is in such proximity of royalty ...
