It's 🤬 depressing. Once I complete watching the last two episodes, I'm likely to do another of essay and critique it out to my heart's content. Although, I have very few good things to say about the show, rest can easily be qualified as an unfavourable review.

About whether Maya is charming... I think it's difficult to say clearly. We can only say based on how people around Maya perceive her to be. We were shown how her employees see her as: they see her as a strict boss and were shown scared of her. They weren't charmed by her personality but then they were her employees and not colleagues, and they would always view her as a boss who is higher up from them in the 'food-chain'. The others were Saanjh, Ayaan, Arjun, Vandana, etc. out of which Arjun could have been said to be charmed by Maya but then he is a duffer as well. Ayaan found Maya charming until he comes to know about her true self. Saanjh too had a liking towards Maya initially until that dinner with Maya which freaks Saanjh out. Vandana saw through Maya right from the start.

We actually never got to see Maya's interaction with any neutral people. We don't know if general people who come across Maya see her as a likeable person. If anything, she comes across as someone who keeps herself away from getting too involved with people. As of now, the CVs haven't established anything concretely whether people around Maya find her charming.

PS: My definition for charming is whether the person can come across as likeable to others in general.

Oh about charming...It's generally a positive trait. A small smile, giving you extra attention and full focus, look at you and actually hear you when you talk, these sorts of things. Maya is a charmer on the side that when she went all out to woo Arjun she did come across a good person who loved him. Keeping aside the suicide dhamkis which she started back then (ab to baasi ghas ho gaya Hai ye sab) during proposal and all she was quite the charmer, no wonder Arjun fell for that. To some extent sanjh too I guess.

Rida's thesis on Maya's "artificial emotional manipulation" and Maya being a master of vices are enough to convince me that she's leaning more toward psychopathy. But giving her a bad childhood and showing her behavior as stemming from out of that is counter intuitive to the psychopath theory.

Should probably send Maya a bouquet of roses minus the roses and only thorns. The entire episode was her de muh khola aur metaphor pe metaphor maarte gayi. My ears could have started bleeding.

From what I could gather, there was TOO MUCH emphasis on waqt/time/Samay. I actually liked Samay in today's episode, man has a sense of right and wrong & his conscience does work. It's just that he's too obsessively in love with Maya which overpower every sense and fibre of his. He seems to acknowledge that Saanjh and family are good people.

I'm beginning to see a faint ray of hope again with regards to his character. What you said on Khushi's thread and khushi's own theory does have a possibility to work out. Given how insanely confident Maya is on every source of power whether time or God are on her side or will shift to her side is likely to take her down.

All her dialogues are delivered with so much conviction and passion that you can't help but be taken in by that charm. I still remember how she said "uchhai ki aadat daalo Arjun" atop the hot air balloon, neatly playing into his long-term career goals! This was why I got so disappointed when she resorted to being a doormat bahu because she could have easily used her CHARMS to do the trick instead of engaging in OTT tactics to win over Vandy. Oh well.
