And Colin Firth just nailed the scene...with his awesome awkwardness

Di, Darcy was socially anxious. He was also highly shy, which Lizzie also got wrong, though she prided herself in her judgement of character.

Darcy wasn't actually arrogant, well bred and proud of his position, yeah, but I don't think he was arrogant. He was asocial to say the least. And his sudden proposal after his snide remarks did take Lizzie aback, though she barely gave it a thought before rejecting it outright.

Absolutely...he was..it had a lot to do with his upbringing. But the trouble with Austen is on one hand she creates some awesome male characters...like Darcy, Knightley and Brandon...but their workings of mind are mostly left untouched.

They weren't snide actually. They were too frank.

Because Lizzie wasn't a person to think before acting...she was quite spontaneous like her mother...and had quite strong likes and dislikes just like younger two siblings. What made her stand apart was her compassion and her wish to do good and accept when she is at fault.

Tha- True. His comments and proposal were contradictory
Di- Yeah, that's true. Jane was always the one to stop and think. Lizzie was more brash

I am in...they are like my 3rd (Darcy), 4th (Brandon), 5th (knightley) favourite male characters...I keep Wentworth out of this because he was too silly and hurt poor Anne...way too much. Tilney is good though and I don't like Edmund Bertram😆
