Good morning!

Hey Padma, you are being judgemental due to whatever reasons😆, drinking, smoking, partying late or whatever is a matter of choice, whether male or female, each one of us may have our subjective opinion on them based on our feudal or liberal upbringing but have to respect the right to choice of anyone. Excess of anything is bad but it applies to both male and female and this is exactly what this film seeks to demolish, myths about female behaviour. If a female talks in a friendly manner, has a drink or parties late, does it mean she is loose and allowing a guy to violate her modesty?The film brilliantly focuses on one thing, a no is a no and men should learn to respect it, whether boyfriend, office colleague or husband!

The women empowerment is a vastly debated subject in a biased way by many mere money making producers in the past as well as now . Some sincere Pro/ Dir discussed it with some wisdom , for ex , in Lajja ,the movie satirizes the honour with which women are placed in society and the restrictions on them! The fact that the four women's names in that film (Maithili, Janki, Ramdulaari, and Vaidehi) are all versions of Sita the ideal Hindu woman's name, is a message in itself !

Padma , please recount Ramayan , I know you must have read it many times and in a way , Ramanand Sagar presented it from the male point of view , but please recollect the last scene written by Maharshi Valmiki , she dejected , rejected and deserted Ram for his misbehavior with his life partner , the last straw was , sending his wife to forest while she was pregnant , and with a dignified silence she handed over the Heirs to that King Ram and shown her reticent to her husband , went away , far , far away from this biased and male oriented society .

Another picture- Mother India , where the Pro/ Dir projected a woman who was deserted by her coward husband because of debts and poverty , she single handedly with grit and determination , raised her kids to reach a respectable level , and even emerged as a winner at the end , bearing that heavy burden of killing her own son to safeguard a girl's respect !Despite the many hurdles she faced, she refuses to sacrifice her integrity.

I agree with all your points , but with a small alteration , in our society , culture imposed rules and regulations only for women , because there is no gender equality in our society .

In aristocratic families , there are no rules what so ever the society gleefully impose on ordinary women , they enjoy much more freedom than the woman a step behind in the ladder .

And in lower or labour class , they are the most oppressed as well as more liberated[ both angles are proved by statistics !!!] than the middle class or the normal women in our society . Because of their vulnerability to vultures of the society and the lure to earn quick bucks made them the 'other women' the oppressed and suppressed . But the only solace there is , they never bother about the societal norms and rules and not so weak to yield to the fearful rules of this male dominated society !

Now the thinking lot , the educated , working , and freedom --loving modern women , [ these are there in every class ] they are on the crossroads . Liberty to women in the rigid society gives different meanings to different classes .

But bad and health hazardous habits like smoking , drinking , multiple partnerships , are avoidable to any gender . But imposing rules over one gender[ woman ] and considering it as a privilege to other [ male ] is not acceptable to the modern woman ! That is what the maker of Pink wanted to say through the Lawyer AB .

Love and respect all your arguments Padma . You have a highly alert and thinking mind .👏 for that I always love you and respect you .❤️🤗You are a woman of substance .👏

Thank you Vibha and Madhu for your Valuable inputs. You are right Vibha it seems in my argument with self becoming judgemental. May be because until now I was subjected to suppression. The people around me are dominating (my mother, sister, Husband, Mil, Sons) and self centered. They impose their POV and expect me to adopt it without questioning and analyzing which is very wrong.

You know I am facing this conflict of mind from years. But trying to be myself eventually.
