At a time when tongues have been wagging about Deepika Padukone's two-hour, hush-hush meeting with Ranbir Kapoor at his new apartment on Monday during a hop, skip and jump visit to Mumbai, pictures of her with steady beau Ranveer Singh and mom Ujjala at a close friend's wedding in Sri Lanka have come as a pleasant surprise.

Deepika flew down from Canada to the island country via Mumbai to attend her school friend's destination wedding. She'd brought in New Year's Eve in Europe with the same group of girlfriends, travelling through Rajasthan until her birthday on January 5. "Deepika was in-transit at Dubai airport for seven hours but the couple couldn't meet then because Ranveer was rehearsing for TOIFA after shooting for 16 hours at a stretch," informs a source.

The duo won the Best Jodi Award for Bajirao Mastani and while receiving it, Ranveer had quipped, "This is for best jodi and the better half of the jodi is not here right now. But I will convey your wishes to her. I have the most beautiful woman by my side... Thank you everyone."

The source adds that in April, when his ladylove will be filming some intense sequences with her XXX co-star Vin Diesel, Ranveer might be planning to join her on the sets. Deepika has been shooting for DJ Caruso's Hollywood franchise, XXX: The Return of Xander Cage, with Vin Diesel, Ruby Rose and Nina Dobrev since mid-January. "Deepika's dad, Prakash Padukone, who couldn't attend the wedding in Sri Lanka will fly out to spend some time with her in April in Toronto, Ranveer is expected to join them too," adds the source.

Ranveer and Deepika started dating during Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Goliyon Ki Ras-Leela: Ram Leela in 2013 and have been in a relationship since. On Valentine's Day this year, Ranveer sneaked off to Toronto for four days and the two were snapped sightseeing and shopping. Deepika's family too flew out in February.

Looks like her loved ones are keen to not let homesick Dippy miss her chaklis and banana chips too much.
