The bride - Sanaya Irani
Known to her family and friends as Sanno, Sanny, San, and to her fans as Sunshine, Princess and the Barbie doll of television, Sanaya hails from an affluent Parsi family of Mumbai. She did her schooling at boarding school in Ooty, and then graduated from the prestigious Syndenham's College in Mumbai. A self confessed 'geek', she was preparing for her MBA entrance exams when her mother suggested she try modelling. Her first portfolio was by the renowned photographer and actor, Boman Irani. She did modelling for a couple of years, with substantial success, and also did a small role in a BW film, Fanaa, starring Aamir Khan and Kajol.
Sanaya then moved into television, starting with a cameo in the cult youth show Left Right Left, followed by a role with grey shades in Radha Ki Betiyaan. Her first lead role was the college show Miley Jab Hum Tum, where she played the shy, quiet geeky Gunjan, a role opposite in nature to her real personality. It was there she first met Mohit Sehgal, her costar, who soon became her best friend and the love of her life.
Sanaya later was part of the cult show, Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, which made her a household name in India and abroad. She has subsequently done two more lead roles, in Chhanchhan and Rangrasiya, and was the runner up in Jhalak Dikhla Jaa in 2015. She is currently one of the leading actresses on Indian television.
The groom - Mohit Sehgal
Mohit belongs to a well to do Punjabi business family from Delhi. Early in life, he was bitten by the acting bug, and after completing his education in Delhi, he turned his back on his family business and moved to Mumbai to try his luck in the glamour world. He acted in a small BW movie, and then was fortunate enough to land the plum lead role of Samrat in the cult youth show Miley Jab Hum Tum, where he played the flamboyant Casanova Samrat, heartthrob of a thousand girls in college.
Like Sanaya, Mohit's onscreen character was the opposite to his real life personality. Like his screen character, Mohit Sehgal too became the heartthrob of young girls all over India with this role. And also like Samrat, Mohit's heart soon started to beat only for one girl ... his best friend, Sanaya Irani.
Mohit subsequently acted in the long running Qubool Hai in a role with grey shades, which won him critical acclaim, and is currently the lead in Sarojini.
