For all the hackneyed portrayals over the years with the Taj Mahal, Qutub, Mumbai, slums, temples etc...there are the other monuments, architectures, stunning landscapes (including the ones in North-East...a region sadly overlooked...), glorious Indian food etc. It is frustrating to see the same old, same old.

@bold: Rajesh Koothrapalli is still caricatured in TBBT...and I have always found it a tad annoying...but apparently the keyboard warriors have no problem with that as long as an Indian character is given prime space in an outrageously successful American sitcom.😊

There are examples of work that go beyond the hackneyed protrayals too. I wish, they'd become more mainstream.

@Rajesh Koothrapalli: The actor has written a book "Yes, my accent is real". I am yet to read it, but the title itself is such a farce. He obviously exaggerates the Indian accent on the show.

Yeah, I will allow this... Ben may join in the break-dance with you on the day he and I get married. But only brea-dance, haan...

And I guess, he'll probably not dance for too long... He and I would have danced the waltz before, and after all the stress of the wedding, he'll probably just want to - you know - get back to me. 😳
