Such awesome wins. The women played beautifully right from the word go to chase 150 while the last over sealed the deal for the men. What a way to win a losing match. My MOM is Brathwaite 👏.

Gitey, I too am a BIG fan of the WI team since childhood. I enjoyed the semi final and was not upset about India losing to WI. WI played very well throughout the tournament (except of course in the match against Afghanistan). They had not been playing well in what seemed like centuries. The team kinda lost it's way after Walsh and Ambrose IMO. And look at them now they have the U19 WC, the men's and the women's T20 WC. It's WI all the way and I'm so happy for them 😃 👏. Totally enjoyed the match and it was awesome to see all those men and women doing the champion dance together.

England played well and tried to fight back but finally of course the better team won.

Champions all of them - boys, girls and men. The Calypso cricketers do it, once again. Must've done their ex-cricket team proud. 🥳

6, 6,6 and once again a 6. What a match - What a win - Full Paisa Vasool for the audience. The match kept oscillating b;t WI and eng all through 39 overs but the last over cliched it for WI. 2 consecutive matches Gayle fails, yet the WI go on to win. That's a good sign for any team. Hope, they keep it up.
And Eden Gardens crowd never disappoint - whether the cricket played is good or bad.
Anu, My dad was a big Viv Richards fan, me a Lara fan. All WI matches, whether test on one-day, we both used to watch, late nights, early mornings. You are right, after Ambrose and Walsh, they didn't have any good bowler. No idea about the current lot, but even now, I don't think they have any match winning bowlers. But the current team has improved a lot in the fielding dept.

So sweet Gitey. Father daighter watching matches together.

My entire family is cricket crazy. Thankfully we all are WI fans.

This lot is a very good team. If you have noticed, Gayle never plays in the most important matches yet the team wins coz someone or the other (mostly two other players like Charles or Simmons or Fletcher or Brathwaite) brings in the runs and makes up for the opening batting failure. Which only means if Gayle or the opening batsmen or even the middle order fails the team still wins and this has happened several times in the tournament. I was surprised why Fletcher wasn't brought in but Brathwaite more than made up for it. The batsmen certainly lack the consistency that Lara brought in though tbh. Gayle is an entertainer but unreliable. The bowlers are also good ATM but again inconsistent. They have been clicking as a team though and yes as you said fielding is very good. This is the second time they have won the T20 WC. i hope they keep playing this way.

Miss you too Nammu. Mmmuuuaaahhh 🤗.

he Panama Papers are an unprecedented leak of 11.5m files from the database of the world's fourth biggest offshore law firm, Mossack Fonseca. The records were obtained from an anonymous source by the German newspaper Sddeutsche Zeitung, which shared them with the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ). The ICIJ then shared them with a large network of international partners, including the Guardian and the BBC.

What do they reveal?

The documents show the myriad ways in which the rich can exploit secretive offshore tax regimes. Twelve national leaders are among 143 politicians, their families and close associates from around the world known to have been using offshore tax havens.

A $2bn trail leads all the way to Vladimir Putin. The Russian president's best friend - a cellist called Sergei Roldugin - is at the centre of a scheme in which money from Russian state banks is hidden offshore. Some of it ends up in a ski resort where in 2013 Putin's daughter Katerina got married.

Among national leaders with offshore wealth are Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan's prime minister; Ayad Allawi, ex-interim prime minister and former vice-president of Iraq; Petro Poroshenko, president of Ukraine; Alaa Mubarak, son of Egypt's former president; and the prime minister of Iceland, Sigmundur Dav Gunnlaugsson.

An offshore investment fund run by the father of British prime minister David Cameron avoided ever having to pay tax in Britain by hiring a small army of Bahamas residents to sign its paperwork. The fund has been registered with HM Revenue and Customs since its inception and has filed detailed tax returns every year.

A lengthier overview of the revelations can be found here.

What is Mossack Fonseca?

It is a Panama-based law firm whose services include incorporating companies in offshore jurisdictions such as the British Virgin Islands. It administers offshore firms for a yearly fee. Other services include wealth management.

Where is it based?

The firm is Panamanian but runs a worldwide operation. Its website boasts of a global network with 600 people working in 42 countries. It has franchises around the world, where separately owned affiliates sign up new customers and have exclusive rights to use its brand. Mossack Fonseca operates in tax havens including Switzerland, Cyprus and the British Virgin Islands, and in the British crown dependencies Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man.

The transfer of wealth

How big is it?

Mossack Fonseca is the world's fourth biggest provider of offshore services. It has acted for more than 300,000 companies. There is a strong UK connection. More than half of the companies are registered in British-administered tax havens, as well as in the UK itself.

How much data has been leaked?

A lot. The leak is one of the biggest ever - larger than the US diplomatic cables released by WikiLeaks in 2010, and the secret intelligence documents given to journalists by Edward Snowden in 2013. There are 11.5m documents and 2.6 terabytes of information drawn from Mossack Fonseca's internal database.

Panama Papers: Biggest leak in history

Are all people who use offshore structures crooks?

No. Using offshore structures is entirely legal. There are many legitimate reasons for doing so. Business people in countries such as Russia and Ukraine typically put their assets offshore to defend them from "raids" by criminals, and to get around hard currency restrictions. Others use offshore for reasons of inheritance and estate planning.

Are some people who use offshore structures crooks?

Yes. In a speech last year in Singapore, David Cameron said "the corrupt, criminals and money launderers" take advantage of anonymous company structures. The government is trying to do something about this. It wants to set up a central register that will reveal the beneficial owners of offshore companies. From June, UK companies will have to reveal their "significant" owners for the first time.

What does Mossack Fonseca say about the leak?

The firm won't discuss specific cases of alleged wrongdoing, citing client confidentiality. But it robustly defends its conduct. Mossack Fonseca says it complies with anti-money-laundering laws and carries out thorough due diligence on all its clients. It says it regrets any misuse of its services and tries actively to prevent it. The firm says it cannot be blamed for failings by intermediaries, who include banks, law firms and accountants.

^^ I don't understand the offshore structure haven much, but if the 4th largest provider of off-shore services reveal is causing so much furore, I wonder what happens when the top 3 largest providers data is leaked.
I really hope Govt doesn't give any amensty schemes for defaulters or crooks. Honest people are paying tax pe tax pe tax, god knows how many cess and surcharge, and crooks get away whether caught or not.

This is so shocking, Jiah case all over again. Politicians/bigwigs pressurising police from doing their work should be first put behind bars, with no option for bail.

Namsyy,
did you watch yday - First half can be skipped, Stannis and Theon story dragging without moving. But 2nd half is a must watch.Tyrion's trial begins.

Peter Dinklage - Man, what a performance? From hope, to despair to disgust to hatred to not caring 👏 He is the best part of GOT. No two ways about it.
Yday was all about the Lannister family - each one of them individually as well as a whole. All shades of grey can be found among these 4.

Cersei, doesn't care for anyone except her self and her kids, even though she knows they are all rotten to the core. Her dagger looks to Jamie when she realised, he was planning something.
Tywin - whatever judgement he comes to regarding Tyrion is going to spell doom for him - he releases Tyrion, cersie will not take it lightly, he finds Tyrion guilty, he's lost Jamie forever. He deserves to be killed by one of his own blood.
Jamie - Gosh, why did they put him in an incestous relation. Otherwise Total hero material. He's ready to forsake Cersei for Tyrion. That's a wise choice.
Tyrion - everyone he knows has turned against him - except for Jamie. His outburst in the court was a classic.

Mycroft Holmes is the Governor of Iron bank.

An Indian actress playing a lead role in a Canadian show which is doing well is quite an achievement. Deepika is improving though. I liked her in Piku and Bajirao Mastani. Let's see how her Hollywood film turns out.

Priyanka is no doubt talented but she has exposure to US culture as she did few years of schooling in New York, that advantage gives her insight on common person likes and dislikes that helps her to mould her presence appealing to popular demand. However, Deepika will be dependent on her director to present her in an acceptable fashion as she is not familiar with west grassroots, while it is challenging it also gives her an opportunity to express without being weigh down by expectations of commoners. It will be interesting to watch how they will make their place in west.

Global warming comes with old and new problems every year. This time Mumbai too is facing water shortage due to hardly any rains last year which was unheard of. Several parts of Maharashtra have little or no water.

Forget about water, even natural calamities happening in unexpected locations, few years ago earthquake hit when I was at work and none of my colleagues understood what happened including me as we never expected a earth quake in NY as it is a rare phenomenon for the region until we read later online news.

I find Arnab too animated, loud and dramatic. Used to watch his show earlier for time pass but it started to get monotonous for exactly the same reasons so couldn't stick for long.
For sure he is loud but he did have few good debate topics and he is different considering most of moderators try to be politically correct whereas Arnab is unapologetically sarcastic and direct in comments when his views don't agree with others irrespective of the other person status, which made me take a note of him as he is gutsy though a bit opinionated and loud.

Gitey, I too like Karan Thapar but not sure if he is competition for Arnab.

I didn't watch later episodes of QH but first part got destroyed due to lead actor unavailability to some extent, my sympathies lie with Gul as she tried to change story to reduce dependency on hard to get actor but it back fired as it was too late to make the story shift.

I have no appetite left to watch her shows anymore! :(

Priyanka or Deepika - My vote goes to Priyanka anytime. She lasted quite long in Bollywood, going by the lifespan of current heroines. She will, rather is doing well out there.

Arnab show - I prefer Karan thapar's Devils advocate.
Good to see you Fleury.

I will check out Karan Thapar's show ... Never heard of it until now.

You are so right about global warming ... Collectively as mankind an effort need to be put in place to save our planet otherwise future generations will face the wrath!
