MUMBAI: &TV, ZEEL's new Hindi GEC, has debuted with 90.6 GVMs (gross television viewership in million) in the week ended 7 March.
&TV has outperformed all the recent Hindi GEC launches. The Hindi GEC genre has 11 players, including the launch of new channels like Zindagi, Sony Pal and Epic.
Here is how the Hindi GECs performed:
Star Plus was at the top with 604 GVM, down from 638 GVM last week.
Zee TV was at No. 2 with 427 GVM, down from 442 GVM.
Colors slips to No. 3 with 424 GVM, up from 419 GVM last week.
Life OK was at No. 4 with 314 GVM, up from 312 GVM.
SAB was at No. 5 with 312 GVM, up from 265 GVM in the previous week.
SET was at No. 6 with 247 GVM, down from 235 GVM in the previous week.
&TV launched at No. 7 with 90.6 GVMs.
Sony Pal was at No. 8 with 38 GVM, same as last week.
Zindagi was at No. 9 with 22 GVM, up from 20 GVM.
Sahara One was at No. 10 with 11 GVM, up from 9 GVM.
Epic was at No. 11 with 8.2 GVM, up from 7 GVM in previous week.
Based in the contemporary times, the show Bhaghyalakshmi narrates the story of two families from Madhya Pradesh. The Prajapatis are a respectable upper class family with an established family business headed by Vasundhara Prajapati Bhabahi ma' who is also the decision maker in all the important aspects related to her family members. In contrast to it are The Shuklas who are a traditional upper middle class family with a business in gems and stones. Bhoomi, one of the daughters in the family of The Shuklas has been raised as a protected child and was imparted a good education. In a series of surprising events Bhoomi's marriage is fixed with Vasundhara's nephew Ayushmaan who were already in love. But when their traditional families find out about this, they feel cheated and Bhoomi and Ayushmaan lives turn topsy-turvy trying to win the families over.
