Smita Bansal refutes rumours of joining Aam Aadmi Party

Recently, it was reported that TV actress Smita Bansal had joined the Aam Aadmi Party. But the actress, who has taken a break from her acting career for a year, denies this. Fondly remembered for her show Balika Vadhu, the actress was recently in Delhi, campaigning for the party, but refutes rumours of joining politics.

The actress, who hails from Jaipur, said, "I know these rumours were doing the rounds for a while. But I am not a politically-inclined person, just a responsible citizen. So let me make this very clear that I have not joined politics, but I'm only supporting Arvind Kejriwal's efforts. The way our country is becoming unsafe for women, it has given birth to various fears in my mind. I can't let my daughters live and grow up in such an unsafe environment. As far as my participation in the campaign is concerned, I was not there to add some glitz and glamour, but I have a strong faith in that vision."

She added, "If my being there can make a difference then why not? If the public connects with me, I should contribute and make efforts to raise awareness." Talking about her plans to get back to acting, she said, "I still have a few months left to get back to acting full time. But I am busy with theatre shows for now.
