Here are the seven things that happen in the lives of those who work on public holidays and festivals and whatnots

First off, very few refuse to believe that you're actually working on a 'holiday'. Rarely are the words, 'I'll be at work' met with a warm hug and a basket of lemon cupcakes, as ought to be the case. More often than not, people think you're just being anti-social. Or lazy. Or both.

I need a hug, not your attitude. OKAY?

You will be inundated with pictures, check-ins and status updates till you begin to hide, unfollow and in some cases - block.

Your holiday clothes are making me feel cold.

You're sent hundreds of super-duper long festival jokes and best wishes and after a while you are so exhausted (and secretly envious of the amount of free time some people have) that you feel like replying with a 'ditto'. "Happy Diwali!" "Ditto." "Merry Christmas!" "DITTO." "Happy New Year!" "Okay, thanks."

Wow. Your Whatsapp message was so deep, I almost drowned.

You're often asked to explain (mostly in a suspicious Sherlock-like manner) what is it exactly that you'll be doing because it is a holiday, and everyone who is anyone would be on leave. "HOW can there be work if everyone is on leave?" It should be permissible to staple mouths that spout such utter trash.
This. I'll do this.

Friends and family discuss plans for festivals and holidays completely forgetting the fact that you might be at work. And when the realisation finally hits them, YOU get treated like the Grinch. Because, of course, this is your fault.

SERIOUSLY? HOW?

After the first few times, the party invitations stop rolling in altogether. And then it's just you and a bottle of Nutella against the world. Or ice cream. That works just as well.

Just pass me the spoon and go away.

And after everything, when you try to vent your frustration you're generally told that there are those in this world who have or have had to deal with worse. *insert glum face that wants to give you a black eye*

Take. The. Hint
