Abhay you should visit Pune once.
As it has so much related to history and you will get many authentic documents related to Mughals too there,
History is one subject punekars love.
Babasaheb purandare has a live show on Shivaji which he conducts with 100 horses and few elephants too.
Babasaheb purandare is a last word on Shivaji .He has dedicated his whole life to it.

Thanks Rashmi. I am reading about him now and then.
By the way, i got to know something about him which i did not know before.
We know Akbar had his Navratans. Shivaji also had his AsthaPradhans.
Peshwa , Amatya , Sachiv , Mantri , Senapati , Sumant , Nyayadhish , Panditrao

He had a well developed administration system, demarcated the duties to these 8 people above. Till now, i knew only about the hereditary Peshwas. The other 7 were not known to me. Though, my knowledge about him is not much at the moment, but i found this 8-officer organization very interesting.

Please share more insights about him here. It will be fascinating to know more.

And, before both of them Chandragupta Vikramaditya had Navratans, around 1000 years back. Though i dont know much about him, but digging the lives of all these people is very interesting. :D

Hi Friends,

This I will also vouch for. I watch MP only sporadically. But the sets drip with royalty and grandeur.

The DEK of Akbar and even the darbar of Udai Singh really look grand. The throne of Akbar is v good. You can imagine that's how the real darbars must have been like.

I had once mentioned that the DEK in JA looks like a drawing room in a middle class flat. Everyone is so casual, as if they were having tea and pakodas and gup-shup.

the Akbar in MP looks more regal and seems to have the authority and arrogance of a young emperor. RT is beginning to look less and less like an emperor. A "gravitas" is missing in the Akbar of JA.

Acting is also more understated and subtle. Royal people in MP cry silently with tears just glistening in their eyes. They don't shout/scream/throw things around or generally seem like they are having hysteria.

The only drawback is that the pace is slow. If the pace picks up, MP would get into the top rung of shows.

Radhika,
The actor playing the character of Akbar in MP is able to show that regal arrogance of a young Emperor. I like his expressions and the method of dialogue delivery. ALong with that the people who write the dialogues for that show clearly demarcate between the language of Mughals and the Rajputs. I mean, normal Hindi and some mixture of Persian type words.
But in JA every thing looks mixed. Initially it was fine, but later the line became blurred.

I agree about the pace bit, some times it gets really slow. But this(MP) show , they have planned for long. Soon, we may have 2 shows to discuss - Ashoka and MP. JA may not run for long. Already SA is about to start.

Rashmi,
Can you tell us more about Bajirao Mastani. ?

About this folk tale, there is one more thing i want to mention. 😊

In Rajasthan, there is a same tale about Rani Padmini. She was so fair that water could be seen going down through her throat , when she used to drink it . {This is a FOLK TALE, perhaps to signify her beauty.}

Rashmi...🤗

Yeah that 'Paan' wala folk tale is soo famous...as soon as you say Mastani that is the 1st thing that pops up in my mind...
Bajirao-Mastani...😛 I was recently reading Marathi novel "Raau" by Ranjit Desai about Bajirao. It is history+fiction and It is wonderful...but more than Mastani I liked Kashibai's(his wife) character in novel, it is depicted very nicely. But book mostly gives importance to Bajirao other than anyone...

There is one more folk tale about Bajirao-Mastani, very famous at my hometown as they say actual incident happened there...

When Bajirao visited Satara he saw Mastani perform in Darbar of Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj...he was so crazy about her that he went swimming through overflowing Krishna river in middle of stormy night to meet Mastani who was staying on the other side...just because none of the boatmen were ready to risk their lives to take him to other side in stormy night...and he couldn't wait till morning to meet her...😲
