I want to be optimistic, especially in this regard, I so badly hope to see change, but over the years, this malignant tumour of terrorism has spread so rapidly and the actions being taken have proven to be not just futile but somewhat aggravating the situation.
We expect things from people who hold power because at the end of the day they are the ones who have enough power to do something. What do I find when I look into myself, I find a citizen who is scared. Scared of walking in crowded places, suspicious of even a trashcan on the roadside, wincing every time the news channel is put on, depressingly growing accustomed of hearing a journalist in France beheaded, 300 little girls from Nigeria kidnapped, bomb blasts, hostages all this while hearing world leaders making somewhat hollow statements.
How do we change this callousness around?
I always hoped that something would happen to bring an end to this, but yesterday, the picture of a hundred coffins stacked one above the other in a school and a morning picture of the same school where an assembly was held, I didn't know what to feel anymore.
That said, I do hope for a future better than this.
