Abul Fazl is expectedly staying mum on all of these - So we need to rely on other so called neutral historians who had anything credible to say on actual existence of Anarkali. But even as a fiction story this is damn good. Evergreen and timeless - Class differences, a powerful father-in-law, exquisite beauty and a good for nothing prince 😡 . ANd in Mughals those days, age difference would have hardly mattered. And Jahangir was not allowed in Akbar's harem. Reverse also must have been true - IT is more a rule and norm that Emperor's harem is ONLY for him.

Yes and who refuses the alliance when SD attacks Amer with Sujamal as the Mughals had become Amer's enemies and Akbar was also attacking other areas of the Rajputana and all the Rajputs wanted to protect their backs

In my peak craze to find out whether MUZ-AK love story really existed, I was reading any book or webpage having Akbar as one code word. So some more of what I read ..,

Akbar was exxxtremely disappointed when Chithor Jhohar happened and he entered the fort and came to know that none of the Princesses has survived. His dream to have a blue blood Rajput from Chittor as one of his Queens was shattered - He had HK by then but she was from Amber which probably was smaller in pride hierarachy than Mewar. And he may have heard of that Rani Padmini Stories, being close to Rajput history - May be Mewar princesses were known for their beauties.

When Adham Khan and Pir Mohd invaded and committed untold miseries in Malwa and that dancing lady who was the wife Bez Bahdur committed suicide before Adham could lay his hands on her. Akbar was so much looking forward to having her in his harem ; he rushed to Malwa to teach Adham for his atrocities; But first thing he asked Adham, apparently was where is this lady ? On seeing her charred body, Akbar's disappointment turned to anger. MA had to intervene to resolve issues for Adham.

1597 marriage means - He is 55 years old - and the girl could not have been more than 20 in any case. This is very disappointing friends - After all the laws he passed, he marrying someone old enough to be his daughter !!! 😕

well there can be many reasons. many times the girls didnt had options; but many times the fathers of the girls themselves offered the proposals, sumtimes girls also preferred to marry the emperor himself. but obviously jalal wasnt a saint. he also fell for many.😆 2ndly, in those times age differences wasnt considered a big deal so maybe noone thought of issuing a law at tht time.

Sri, do take some of this with fistful of salt - Akbar was more moderate in his excesses than the other mughals 😆

Not father-in-law Shri, Boyfriend no.1 Akbar, boyfriend no.2 Salim. Do you see how scandalous this is even by today's times? By some accounts, she was Daniyal's mother, at any rate, it's a given that she had lovey-dovey relations with Akbar for sure, she was his afvourite concubine because of her beauty, dance, and apparently was good at other fine arts (I am thinking painting and embroidery here). 😆😉

Oh God, these people made Akbar into an elaborate chichora!

True Rani Rupmati did spark some interest in Agra, but, Akbar rushed to Malwa to stop Adham's atrocities on people there.

I read somewhere, that Rani Durgavati's younger sister was made part of harem, after Rani Durgavati perished in the war. It didn't mention any marriage so, I am guessing, she was made a concubine despite being a blueblood.

If you're enthusiastic about Historic shows, I would recommend Tudors. This show is just a window to the ways of thinking back then. Statutory warning - Being a UK show, the bold scenes are quite bold, and nothing is left to imagination. 😉😆

Raksha - We may have extreme trouble understanding this. Unless Anarkali has been recorded as a History as Akbar's COncubine, this story is more of a fiction. Concubine theory may have worked like this - In the Harem, there are new girls who keep coming from Persia to Russia to Afgan to Hindustanci to even Portugese. Unless some one is a Rambha, Oorvasi Emperor cannot be glued to one concubine for years together. I also think Emperors concubines do not dance in court. Rather the cortesan can become a concubine . 😆😆 - Sorry - Even I am feeling bad writing all these.

But AKBAR - Anarkali - Dainyal - Salim angle is sickening. I also read that Akbar saw her reurning a lovey=dovey smile to Salim during one of the Jashns and had her punished. This Alex Rutherford went one step further and made it very Weternized. He wrote that Salim was caught in AK's Harem once and Abul Fazl knew this and he pottukoduthufied this matter to Akbar( Meaning told in Tamil). An enraged Akbar told him that you want my Takht,kingsom, Badshaah and my women also and banished him to Lahore or somewhere to a lesser position than Mann Singh and Rahim. I do not buy this. To each its own..,

well there were many woman brought into the harem, but akbar didnt had physical relations with many as well. there were many as well who were just for show in the harem. there were many ladies apart from wives, relatives, concubines & maids as well.
