Guys, I must share this with you. My bro gets transferred every three years. He was in Dubai for three years some years ago. When I had gone to visit him, there were Dubai Tennis Championships going on and I told my bro no matter what happens I want to see Roger Federer's just one match coz it was my dream. So my bro booked tickets for one match between Roger Federer and Germany's Tommy Haas who was 9th in the top 10 rankings at that time.
I saw the match, shouted slogans and had a blast and of course Roger won and my joy knew no bounds. Roger even smiled when I shouted "I love you Roger" in the middle of a match (of course after a game is over when it's ok to shout and not when a game is going on) when everyone was quiet 😆. My dad was embarassed and asked my mom if this is the same girl she gave birth to coz I was behaving like a ballistic teenager 😆. Anyways, after the match I told my family to go towards the car parking and not wait for me and that I'll join them later and went on the upper deck to watch Federer coming out of the dressing room to give autographs.
There were a lot of ppl shouting "Roger Roger". He told all of them to keep quiet and that each and every person standing there will get his autograph as he will never forget the support of his fans. He was surrounded by tall and hefty security men. They were waiting for him to finish with his autographs and take him back to the hotel. But Roger was giving autographs for about an hour and felt bad for the security guards. He told them to wait for him at a distance and told them not to worry about him and that no one will harm him. He left only after signing the last autograph. I was watching all this from the upper deck (first floor just about 10 feet above Roger coz I didn't want to get squeezed in the crowd who wanted autographs, I just wanted to watch him 😳) and my respect for this man only grew.
Let me tell you guys about another incident. A freind of mine works for a company who sponsors a lot of these sports events. They get to know a lot of things about celebrities. She told me that once when Roger was driving in his Toyota on a highway at night with Mirka and his twin daughters, his car broke down and had to be towed away to a Toyota Service Station. He was told to wait for a while while the servicing was done. That man waited quietly (just asked once after an hour when his car will be ready) with his wife and daughters without complaining and then drove away quietly later with them after the car was ready after a couple of hours. Any other celebrity would've have thrown a fit and asked why it's taking so long and shouted and thrown tantrums and probably asked for special treatment. But not Roger Federer coz he is a class apart on and off the court 😳.
